Guys, I’m bummed the Broncos aren’t going to be in Mobile coaching the Senior Bowl this year simply because the content you guys churned out last year was superb. *chef’s kiss*
I can’t shake the feeling that the Broncos will not evolve with this coaching hire (what Chris Harris said has been a problem the last three years), especially on offense. There seems to be an insistence on Elway’s part to keep Kubiak involved, which can be effective in certain regards, but I don’t recall much in terms of offensive inventiveness his two years as HC here–and certainly not in the last two. Do you see anything regarding the X’s and O’s Gary could bring to ease my troubled spirit before I Kubi-Yak?

Why haven’t we pursued Dave Toub who meets Johns criteria for this coaching search. I think Toub, kubiak, and Woods would be a great coaching staff that provides “continuity”. Also a bit dissapointed we aren’t looking into KCs OC

What’s up BSN Broncos crew. Long time Denver sports fan, been a BSN subscriber since before the subscription fee started as well. Typically I’m very active with the BSN Avs crew but have been wanting to get more involved with the Broncos side of things. Now that Joseph is gone I should be able to be active here without being emotional and communicating waaay more strongly than I should be in an internet forum. Thanks for the stellar coverage guys, sincerely. I wouldn’t expect anything less from a team with the BSN stamp of approval. Ok here is my question and as someone who is not a believer in Haskins as the long term answer, I’d like to present you guys with a hypothetical. If you knew for certain that next year the Broncos would have the opportunity to take Tua, Fromm or another top QB, would you still sell the farm for Haskins this year? To me, granted I’m not a pro scout, Haskins is not up to snuff with last year’s or next year’s draft classes. Wouldn’t it be better for Elway to bolster the OL and defense and pave the way for a true franchise qb to take over? Yes hypotheticals aren’t always ideal but if Denver takes Jones or Grier in the 2nd round and don’t sell the farm they could always swing again on qb next season…

Do you guys think Rex Ryan has any interest in coaching?
If so why isn’t he a candidate. It seems like he’d meet the criteria John Elway listed.

Guys. Thanks for the support. We all appreciate the support for the military. Question: seems like a lot of the candidates are more defensive minded coaches but with our struggles with the offense, I think we need an offensive minded head coach or hire someone other than Musgrave. Who do you think are the best offensive minded coaches for us to interview and who would you prefer for head coach or even a new offensive coordinator? Thanks again for the content and love from Columbus, Mississippi.

I would be pretty satisfied with Pagano as head coach. I don’t, in any way, want Kubiak back at OC. I think it would be interesting to hire Zac Taylor as OC with some guidance from Kubiak. If they really want to keep Kubiak around, make him GM. He’s really good at scouting talent but his offenses have never impressed me. So my dream team coaching staff would be Pagano, Taylor and Woods. Kubiak can bring Taylor along and Pagano can bring woods along.

Hey BSN community –
I’m not sure what kind of coach Pagano would be, or how his practices would go (wink @Ryan), but please allow me to share this one thought –
I lost my father to Leukemia in 2012. He was the anchor to our family, and I miss him every single day. Pagano was diagnosed with the exact same type of cancer right around the same time, and I followed his story very closely..
I wanted to share this article from 2012 which describes Pagano’s path through diagnosis, chemotherapy, recovery, and most importantly, his drive to help others deal with their cancer journeys. He has transitioned from a cancer survivor to a mentor and guide for other families with the same, horrible fate. Some of us, like me, are forever beaten by cancer, and others, like Pagano, have instead decided to stand strong and be a light for others to follow.
He may or may not be a great coach, but he sounds like a pretty remarkable person, and for anyone curious about this guy who could end up being our next head coach, it’s worth a read.

Thanks for letting me share.

Geez Brad, I’m sorry for the loss of your father. I lost my dad a year earlier than you, he was 55, so I can sympathise with what you’ve been through. I hope that you and your family are coping as best as can be expected. If you need to talk, hit me up, BSN brother.

BadOne Log 18:
Hi Guys – My wife wanted to chime in on this year’s disaster of a season cause she hears me vent about it ALL THE TIME. She says “Maybe Elway should do a better job at recruiting the right coaches and players. If he needs some tips I can help him since I do this for a living”.. She works in HR lol.
Anyways I want to chime on my thoughts per coach, hopefully, this won’t be a long comment:
Pagano – If we are going to hire a DC shouldn’t we hire someone that can help us improve the Defense? Chuck’s defenses in Indy were terrible that is all I remember ppl saying.
Zac Taylor – with an experienced OC, DC, and Assistant HC this could work. My only concern is that his experience and places he worked at before LAR don’t really scream success.
mike munchak – this one brings me no joy or excitement, it’s like a flavorless snowcone
Brian Flores – stay away from Pats coaches they seem to struggle
Fangio – Like I said about Pagano if you want a defensive HC to make sure that guy can take your defense to a top 5 D again (we hired a midlevel DC in VJ and that was terrible) you can pair Fangio with a killer OC and let him get the defense back to 2014/2015 form.
That’s it, i wish we were talking to another Offensive hot shot :/
Ya Boi,
so sorry for the long post

Hey BSN Family,
Happy New Years to all.
Just a quick question, I read an article that ranked the top head coaching jobs, best to worst, and wanted to get your guys opinion on it.
1. Browns
2. Packers
3. Jets
4. Cardinals
5. Broncos
6. Buccaneers
7. Dolphins
8. Bengals
Thank you and can’t wait to read all the off-season articles.

Greetings from down under to my BSN family.
Your last podcast got me thinking so I thought that I’d ‘shoot the shit’ about the coaching selection process and not so much on the candidates.
You’ve both written great articles about what Elway should do or what he’s looking for in a new coach. If the public message that is being put out is true then I’m afraid that it’s flawed. Elway is a hall of fame player but you can’t be a micro manager as a GM. I’m in management, albeit at a much lower level than the NFL. However, micromanagement is not management.
Starting a coaching search with your OC or any other coach already chosen is not the right outlook. We all love Elway and Kubiac for what they have achieved but if they don’t put a process in place for getting the best coach that’s best for the franchise first, then they’re at risk of damaging their reputation, along with the Broncos.
In my ideal world, what would the coaching staff look like if Pagano or any other candidates got to pick their own crew?
Thanks again for your work in building this great community.
Your mate,

Hey guys! Question for the Zac Taylor pod. If he would become their HC with Kubiak being an assistant, who would you see or want to be the OC and DC (and hope McMahon stays). Thanks guys!

Wooooo it’s been a while since I’ve commented fellas. I’ve been on vacation. Just catching up on pods and am glad to say I’m caught up now. Listening to 3 pods in one day? That’s livin right. I’m all aboard the Haskins train. Watching him in the Ohio state bowl game, he was looking off safeties with his eyes like they were some Division 3 Alaskan Assasin safeties. Not a terrific athlete, but his pocket presence, arm talent, and manipulation of defenders reminds me a lot of Peyton.
Go Broncos
Mr. T
Simple question for you guys: would you trade Von Miller and this year’s first for Haskins and then resign Shaq Barrett?
Mr. T
To clarify: Trade Von and our 10th overall to move up to draft Haskins, then resign Shaq.

Hi guys,
Is it too late already to wish everyone a happy new year? I don’t know, but I’m going for it! Happy 2019!
To the question: How do the Broncos, as an organization, value or use analytics? Are they looking for a coach that values evidence-based decision making? I don’t think data is, or should be the end all be all, but It would be useful to have some kind data-driven analysis in the organizational culture.
Maybe the Broncos’ approach is different for different things like game planning, play calling, drafting, or making personnel decisions? Thanks!
