Let’s talk about Sunday’s game. I read an interesting stat about Mahomes this week and so far no one is really touching on it. Only 10% of his passes are thrown into tight windows. You can extrapolate a lot from that stat line, but the biggest takeaway I get from it is that he relies heavily on his receiving core’s speed to get separation before he will throw a ball their direction. I went back and watched some highlights (watching Chiefs highlights makes me feel a bit ill.) He will not throw the ball to a receiver that he feels is covered too closely. Sure, it’s a good trait to have from a turnover perspective, but its also a trait that defenses can exploit. He holds the ball longer and relies on scrambling a lot more than most QB’s. He also almost always scrambles out to his right exclusively. Another trait that can be exploited. I think Denver has a blueprint to beat him. It just needs to translate onto the field.

If they can keep Chubb and Von in the 5 technique while rotating out their inside linebackers to keep them fresh all game as they did against Arizona I think they will have a better chance to keep Mahomes contained. Continuing to have your outside rushers drop back in coverage will just allow Kelce to get favorable matchups all game. Stewart hasn’t been playing well. Let Todd Davis step in and blitz the A gap more to keep the run contained. With Jones returning to play this week you have a little more help in the secondary which means that you don’t have to keep all of your linebackers in nickel all game getting gashed for 200 yards rushing. I’m sure Joe Woods knows all of this already, but maybe you can just pass it along when you see him… *Wink* *wink*

TLDR: I just want to see a win.

Here’s my take on Kelly, he obviously had some raw talent, but not enough to keep and I understand that. Here’s what I think. I think this really helps Keenum. I think that Keenum was feeling the pressure of the Kelly talks with each passing week. I believe this is a weight off of the shoulders of Keenum, and I think he’ll play better for the rest of the season. You heard it here first. Next thing, what about trading Shane Ray and some picks (I’m not going to pretend I know about the value of picks, I’ll let you guys discuss that) to the Saints for Teddy Bridgewater? I really wanted Denver to go get him this off-season, so I may be biased, but it seems like a decent idea to me. How good is the Saints’ linebacking core, specifically pass rushers like Ray? Could they even use him or someone else on our team instead? Thanks for everything!

Man, it’s been a while since I’ve looked into draft prospects this early in the season. Even last year I held out hope until like week 10. Since the QB class looks real thin this year, do you guys think the Broncos are likely to focus on this defense in the draft and make it elite once again? Defense wins championships and as long as Keenum can be competent and has weapons like Sutton, Hamilton and Butt (cross your fingers), I think it is a legit strategy. All these people drooling over Mahomes don’t realize that teams are gathering tape on him. He has only started 8 games. Teams will come up with a counter strategy, not to mention they can’t afford to keep all those weapons forever. I know they’re not going to, but they need to tank this year, build next year and hope there’s a decent QB in 2020.

Hope all is well bsn fam! Have a few thoughts and questions. It would seem John elway isn’t that great of evaluating QB talent. How? So we’ve been through the QBs. Sanchez, Paxton, osweiler, seimen, and now case. (Dont involve peyton bc he would be great with or without him becoming a bronco) While I believe case is better then the latter. I’m not convinced he’s the answer either. So my question is this. John wanted kap( I kno enough with the kap talk hear me out tho) to take a huge discount with a superbowl appearance on his resume. As well more then one playoff win. He offered him 7 mil a yr. Case has one good season and one miracle play. And he gets 36 for 2 yrs?? 25 guaranteed?? Talent evaluation or trying to get to much bang for your buck? Do you think this save a dollar mentality will hurt the Broncos in the long term? Or was it as you mentioned on yesterday podcast along the lines of a double standard? Yes I understand the drama that surrounds kap. But your paying a journey man qb 18 mil who’s never been In this position. And he’s leading the league in picks. If case keeps up the process of throwing more picks then touchdowns. And we go 6-10. Does VJ lose his job at the end of the year or is there any major coaching changes? Thx for all you guys do. Nick named zac and Ryan pinky and the brain. Bc the interaction between you to is priceless. Makes my day driving across the U.S. as a truck driver. Was in Kansas city delivering a load last week and left a couple of hexes and curses and wished a few misfortunes on arrowhead of course on the chiefs side for when we play them this week. Go Broncos and keep up the great work BSN fam!

Hey guys, it’s Micah, the Appalachian Trail guy. Just finished the full 2190.9 miles this past Sunday. 14 states, around 5 million steps. Feels great to finally be done! Just wanted to say that you guys were my mashed potatoes, grilled cheese sandwiches, and tomato soup. Comfort food for sure on a long and at-times grueling hike. This podcast was something I looked forward to every day that it was available, and something that kept me sane out there. Thank you! I got off trail for the Jets game in NY, which was a disaster, but will be at the Houston game soon, so hopefully that one goes better. The fundraiser to fight human trafficking in Thailand has gone well, and is currently at $19,644, so very close to my 20K goal. Appreciate you guys and keep up the great work!

Hey guys, first time commenting but have listened to the podcast pretty much every day since March and finally subscribed when you guys were giving away the Callaway driver. Anyway I was curious what it would take for us to draft Tua Tagovailoa in 2020, I don’t want us to do tank tank 3 years in a row, including last year, this year, and next year, but I imagine he will go one and if a team needs a QB there is no way they would trade away a chance to take someone as special as him. Just wanted to get your thoughts and let you guys know this pod is the only way I’ve been able to stay optimistic through this rough patch, thank you Zac and Ryan.

If the Giants waive Eli what are your thoughts on getting round 2 of a Manning QB next year?

1) I accept my fate. Burrito Brad is dead. Long live Nacho Brad.

2) I do love me some chicken nachos.

3) I hate myself for asking this. I really do. Thinking about who might be available as a head coach candidate once VJ is gone, what are the chances that Josh McDaniels 2.0, in a Hollywood scripted story of redemption and glory, returns to Denver to bury the demons of his past and leads Denver to greatness once more? Would he even want to come back?

4. Idea for the BSN locker – Kevin Hogan tshirts preferated in the middle to assist with tearing them off, Hulk style.

Second-to-last in relevance but first in your hearts…

Extremely disappointed at where the broncos are right now. This is the first time in along time there is no hope. I understand we’re better off with Keenum then a lot of other option, but in my mind there’s no future.

I actually like Vance Joseph. so I guess my question this week is outside of qb what is keeping him back from being a good head coach and the fans loving him.

And his name is Khabib Nurmagomedov (huh-beeb) best out some respect on my mans name.

Hey BSN Family,
I want to thank you guys for the coverage of the Chad Kelly situation. When I first heard about the story I rushed to BSNDenver.com to check the real story. Never believed any other post until I saw it from you guys. So thank you again.

Now back to football. I read an article that listed every trade move the AFC teams should make. Here is some take always from that:
Trade DT to Ravens for a 4th round pick
Trade Ray to anyone for a 6th round pick
Trade DT to the Texans for a 4th round pick
Trade Ray to New England for a 6th round pick
The Raiders should trade everything

What are your guy’s tales on these? What trades would you like to see not only the Broncos make but across the NFL?

Thank you and keep up the AWESOME work.
