I heard you guys talking about other pass rushers in the draft and t feels that there is a sense of regret in the pick of Chubb at 5? I think this proves we are in win now mode. In the second and third picks I think we can address RB, OL, and WR all in those places. I think ideally getting Oline at 40 would be great with one of the guys remaining. Get Bilage in the third or another guy and idk if this would be too rich but, Pettis late 3rd helps slot and return depth. Let me know your thoughts.
Also how soon would be too soon to get Griffin at LB?
Thanks, Aaron
Hey Aaron,
It certainly proves Denver’s in win-now mode. I like your draft strategy with O-line in 2nd, then RB early in the third and WR (I’d add WR or TE) in the late third. Pick 40 will be huge as there are still some great talents remaining.
As far as Shaq Griffin goes, he might even go in the late third today. I think fair value would be about the early fourth tomorrow.
Thanks for the question,
Andre
World of Suck
Whose draft was worse- the Saints or the Jets?
Now that we know how the draft went, we know that the Jets could have picked Rosen if they stayed at #6. So they traded Josh Rosen and three second round picks for Sam Darnold.
The Saints traded #27, a 5th and a 2019 1st rounder for #18 and grab Marcus Davenport.
Hey Cris,
That’s an interesting question. I think the Jets ultimately did a good job with Darnold, even though you make a really good point, had they stayed at 6 they could’ve still got Rosen or Allen.
Between the two teams, I’d say the loser is the Saints. Making a move like that is an all-in move to win now, but taking Davenport is a boom-or-bust proposition that’ll take a few years to develop. Given the edge rushers still around, I think they spent too much to move up and get him. Given that they don’t have a 2nd rounder this year, I think they’re playing with fire giving up a future 1st rounder.
Thanks for your question,
Andre
Hey Andres & AJ, I appreciate you guys doing a late podcast analysis of the 1st round. I thought it particularly interesting that Andre said Denver seems to be in a win-now mode. Am waiting to see how the rest of the draft unfolds.
TECHNICAL NOTE: Andre, FYI, your mic was distorting big time. I don’t know if you were sitting too close or if there is an issue with it, but your often the vocal clarity was not there.
Thanks guys!
