(Car-ch) you may have mispronounced the name on the pod yesterday, hooking you up with another pronunciation guide. For Zac and Ryan, how do you cover a guy like Tyreek Hill? I thought common knowledge would say you play off coverage and give safety help over the top, well the broncos have tried playing that way the last couple weeks and I just don’t think off coverage is their game. Plus I worry dedicating that extra help over the top will just leave an even bigger gap in the middle of the field for Travis Kelsey to find when our linebackers inevitability bite hard on the play action like they have the past few weeks. How in the world can we slow down this offense? Aside from strip sacking Mahomes and hoping that Kareem Hunt gets fiesty in the pile and gets ejected from the game, lol too soon, have to cope somehow I guess.
Andre, thank you for the great college coverage. I’d be lost without your guidance in that realm. I really appreciate all the insight on upcoming prospects. Definitely feel like we are going to need to go cornerback and off ball linebacker early. How many corners would you say are legitimate first rounders before there’s a drop-off in top end talent?
To all, thanks again for the awesome coverage. Much love to all the BSN family (Peko Shaka sign)
3 and Outstanding
I’m going to start with some housekeeping comments.
After you talked up Matt McChesney’s Podcast I whipped out my trusty BSN Denver App to hear the goodness. 20 minutes into the episode and a ton of confusion later I realized that the most recent episode was from October of 2017. After some searching, it turns out that Matt’s old podcast “The Truth” is what is on the App. His new and current podcast is called “Unchained” and is not currently available on BSN. This seems like something that should be addressed.
One more housekeeping mention. I mostly listen to the podcast on my phone at work. Since the BSN app stops playing as soon as my phone’s screen goes dark I have had to change over and start listening to it on Stitcher which doesn’t cut off the audio when my screen goes dark. Are there any plans for fixing that?
Now on to the important stuff.
Ryan,
I listened to your interview on Orange and Blue 760. (I get around) Your talk about Keenum’s QB play got me thinking about that strip sack hit he took. If you rewatch the play I cannot tell at first glance, but it looks like he might have gotten a bit dazed on the hit. He just sits there looking lost for several seconds while the pile gets bigger behind him. Even after he gets bumped by the pile he still seems out of sorts. He certainly doesn’t react to the play as you would expect in that situation. Should he have gone through the concussion protocol after that play? He seemed pretty sluggish the rest of the game. Maybe I’m reading too much into it.
On the subject of player safety and the emphasis on QB protection. It’s very hard to take the idea seriously when the people who are screaming for player safety are the same ones who are celebrating highlights of quarterbacks like Josh Allen high jumping over defenders, Aaron Rodgers scrambling around on a damaged knee, and Brees leaping over the line into the end zone. In a league where players like Andrew Luck rupture their spleen running like a fullback into Bronco defenders, and Jimmy Garoppolo blows out his knee trying to pick up an extra inch instead of going out of bounds isn’t there a responsibility on the QBs for protecting themselves?
It seems like defenders are disproportionately targeted for safety violations, but there are no repercussions for these QB’s when they do stupid, ill-advised crap like this. Sure it looks good on a highlight reel, but they are just as responsible for their own safety. Aren’t they? Why is it that when a QB does this stuff they are heroic, but when a defender makes a great play on a QB they are penalized and called out?
Sorry for the rant. It needed to be stated.
That Lindsay shirt in the Locker is fire. I’ve definitely got to get some of that in my life!

Hello BSN friends. Still reeling from the atrocious game Sunday. Two questions. First, what happened to Keenum? All preseason we listened to daily accounts of how sharp Case looked. No INTs in practice, hitting receivers in stride, etc. So, what happened? Second, assuming Keenum continues this bottom five performance, how long until we start talking about… You know… I’m not personally advocating a change right now, that would be a massive overreaction, but if I have to sit through 13 more games of a negative TD:INT rate, I’m going to at least start wondering.
First of all, I think today’s (Monday’s) pod was supposed to be an ad-free Monday! Haha, just kidding! Here’s my take on the Lindsay ejection. If you go back and watch the play, Lindsay is flagged as soon as he jumps on the pile. The problem with that is, that means the ref’s attention is right on Lindsay as he proceeds to throw the ‘punches’. I think that was the main issue. Lindsay was already the focal point of that ref’s attention. You can see the ref throw that flag before Lindsay throws the punches. I have not given up on Lindsay at all. Was it a stupid play? Yeah, probably. But I still kind of enjoyed the passion on the field! Keep doing your thing guys!
P.S. – Go watch that replay for me and correct me if I’m wrong about my take on that play!

Let’s be honest Mahomes can’t keep up his play forever. I think he may be a good quarterback but I always say if they can do it consistently that’s what makes a good quarterback. There is not enough tape on him yet to figure out how to counter once there is sufficient tape on him. It was similar to Watson who played excellent last year but with enough tape teams know how to contain him. Same with Dak Prescott and Jimmy G. The quarterbacks who respond well to the counter off the NFL are truly the great ones. Denver has a chance to win, any team has a chance to win on any Sunday. Example: Bills over Vikings. Lions over Patriots.
Do you think the Baltimore lost was due to the Broncos being complacent about them? Similar to how they approached Buffalo last year?
How can the Broncos stop overlooking any opponent?
Thanks for all that you guys do!

That was one of the most frustrating games to watch as a fan. It was a very winnable game that was thrown away. The Broncos got melted like the Wicked Witch of the West only except being drenched with water (yes I know it was raining), they were melted by self inflicted penalty flags. I tend to agree with Zach, even if those calls were borderline, they were calling the game based on the rule book. Honestly, when we got rid of Talib, I thought we were done shooting ourselves in the leg, I mean foot. Looking forward, I know it’s early, but next Monday night could very well make or break this season. If we win and shut down KC’s offense, I think we’re primed to make the playoffs. However, if KC comes out and balls out of control (I sadly expect this) then the players will start packing it in. P.s., I’m sick and tired of the Broncos always getting out coached. It’s been a very blatant theme for the majority of a few years.

GO BRONCOS!!!
Just wanted to put that out there first. I know Sunday’s game was very tough to watch as a fan. Players making poor decisions leading to penalties (agree that a majority of the penalties were on the Broncos, not bad calls), some questionable calls by the coaching staff, and just poor playing. Since you covered all of this in the Monday podcast here is my question for today:
Did Vance Joseph and the team address any of this on Monday or did the team take a day off? It is my understanding, most of the time, the team will have the next “day off” after a game (please let me know if I am wrong and how this usually works), but with how bad the game went overall, shouldn’t the Broncos organization be spending everyday up to Monday discussing how to play better. You would think this is a no-brainer, but after 13 years in the military, I know that there is no such thing as a no-brainer situation.
Next……there was mention of BSN shirts going out earlier this year to certain subscribers that were here before the sign up promotions really began. Did this happen?!?
Thanks for everything!
GO BRONCOS!!!

Can you all dive more into schemes. I feel like during the offseason people talked about how great Joe woods schemes were looking and the creativity and how Musgrave is a mad scientist. Over the past three weeks the schemes and coaching just seem to be really lacking just as much as the execution. Thoughts?
Also if you were the O and D coordinators how would you scheme against the Chiefs this week? For example: try to grind out the clock and possess the ball on Offense. On D, who do you try to shut down with all their weapons.
Thanks as always: Loyal Orange and Blue

Hey guys, new subscriber out of California here. You’d be shocked by how many broncos fans are out here. Watching the chargers games in San Diego was like watching a home game; broncos jerseys everywhere. Anyways, down to business.
I’ll lead your weekly game predictions by saying we will lose to the chiefs. Aside from this, I want to bring up something that I haven’t seen mentioned on the podcast. Over the years we have had multiple abysmal drafts (excluding this year) and a questionable coaching hire in VJ. Is there going to be a point where people start looking at the man upstairs: John Elway. I know that in Denver Elway is a hero and should probably run for mayor and eventually president. But, as a die hard broncos fan, I am willing to look past this if our executive decision making doesn’t seem to be sound. I remember in 2013 when we got obliterated by the Seahawks in preseason and Elway came into the locker room with choice words for the team. Where has that fire and fight been the past 4 years. I’ve been to multiple training camps and I’ve seen Elway on the field. But, I have to ask…. is his presence felt amongst the team? Is it possible that even the almighty John Elway can have a hot seat? Am I the only person in broncos country that his having an outside perspective and can be honest about the questionable performance of our front office? Also, can there be a time where we assume that it was Peyton Manning who held the morale and spirit of this broncos team together for his 4 years?
Thank you for the pod. Go Broncos!
Welcome to the BSN family!

What was with Case holding the ball so long??? It’s impossible to view the routes while watching the game on T.V. but it seemed to me that Case had some time back there but was just blankly staring down field. Ryan you were there and could see the whole field. Was this on Case for not knowing where to go with the ball and getting the it out quickly, or was it simply that receivers were not getting separation? When Case holds the ball it leads to more holding calls on Bolles and the rest of the Oline and holding calls kill drives.
Also, whats up with Marquette King? He had a rough day as well.

Hi guys Mark in Kansas
Looking ahead at the schedule I feel like it has been made easier. Houston and Pittsburgh look easier especially at home. The 2 road games against Darnold and Rosen coming up Denver should have a good shot in those. At San Francisco got a lot easier. The rams will be tough at home but it’s still at home. Overall I see the team still having a real shotfor January especially if they can beat KC on Monday. Doom and gloom might be a little early yet.
Go Denver
Gentlemen…
First of all, thanks for letting us vent about the game. You could’ve skipped through it all, but you let us all get our frustrations out and that’s part of what makes you both the best. Second, I’m really excited to see this BSN family grow every day. As an OG subscriber, I couldn’t be more proud to be a part of this community. LASTLY! With all the frustration about the game against Baltimore, I’d like to take a moment to point out a real highlight: this ain’t Brock Olivo’s special teams. Just happy to see some big plays being made!
GO BRONCOS!!!

Hey guys great show as always.
Andy from the UK here pronounced like ‘Ann’ and D as in D Fence.
Question coming up but first, as for Sunday I can’t lose hope yet. We’re gonna have days like that, days where we light it up and mainly days like games 1 & 2 of this season. I reckon overall 9-7.
That said though do you think time has come for some of our bigger names to move on at the end of the season if we’re to compete in coming years. If we were to clear players like Thomas, Wolfe etc how much money might be available for a massive free agent superstar?
Let’s hope Monday can be one of those days like against the Cowboys last year. Go Broncos!
Cheers ya’ll

Hey guys just looked at the shirts. Love them but shouldn’t the number 30 shirt have less eyebrows? Thanks for the awsome coverage. I’ll be looking for others wearing the BSN family logo!

Hey guys just got a quick question about the punter we signed to the practice squad. That question is why? I saw some Denver news personality tweet about it being a message to King since he had a bad game but it just seems not necessary unless they really are looking to move on from Marquette King already? Doesn’t make much sense to me and probably is a waste of a practice squad roster spot. Thoughts?

Just a quick comment:
It is refreshing to hear the “don’t blame the refs” narrative as that drives me batty. Call definitely went in our favor (Simmons, looking at you here) and I’ve always found blaming the refs essentially a delusional excuse to not hold the players accountable for playing poorly. To borrow a line from Drew Creasman “them boys are on scholarship too” and you have to be self aware enough to realize sometimes the other team just outplays you.
By the way, still can’t quit phonetically spell my name through emojis, but here is a try:
