AFC West Questions

Raiders:
How many 25+ yard catches will Antonio Brown make when his new QB, Derek”Check Down”Carr, only holds the ball for 1.2 seconds per play?

Chiefs:
Do you think that the loss of John Dorsey is bigger than most people realize? He drafted all of the chiefs current star players, and has killed it In Cleveland. He drafted Mahomes and Mayfield!

Chargers:

Does the return of Hunter Henry, Former Razorback, give “Cry-Me-A-Rivers” the bump he needs to finally win the division AND make some noise in the playoffs? Overall, is this the best chance he has ever had to win it all?

Broncos:

Compare the following players to an animal, mythical or real:

Phillip Lindsey
Joe Flacco
Von Miller
Garret “Gumballl” Bolles
Derek Wolfe <— can’t choose a wolf!

I first started rooting for the broncos when I became a cadet at THE United States Air Force Academy (none of that Ohio State BS) which was back in cutler Orton then Tebow days. I appreciate RK sticking up for us when Zac didn’t know we had a baseball team. Going along with schools, I want to hear your guys’ take on how you viewed the schools in CO and I’ll give you mine. CU- stoners(but I always went to boulder for the parties) CSU-red necks DU-rich stuck up kids (sorry Zac) others…no one cared. Plus DU was always our rival in soccer. Keep up the great Pods.

I had no idea that you would need to skip over a portion of my comment if it mentioned anything political in any way. My bad.

With that, let’s talk about something fun. Ryan mentioned creating players and teams for the NCCA football video game. The final versions of the game had a feature called Team Builder that you could create the entire team and upload and download online. I think it was ‘NCAA Football 2010’. I’m old as hell and outside of commishing my fantasy sports leagues, that was my ultimate hobby. I created a team called the Death Valley Criminals that was chalk full of the most vile people in human history. I literally had to research for the majority of these people and while I had fun playing with the team – the research was one of the darkest endeavors I’ve ever undertaken.. Think of anyone in history – I probably had them as a player on that created team.

I made some fun teams as well, mostly High School teams in Colorado and Minnesota. I used to use my Creek team to beatdown teams someone else made like Columbine, Fairview and Mullen lol.. Man, I miss that game..

Have a great weekend, guys!

Hey guys great pod.

As far as the soccer issue is concerned if you don’t want a team scoring on you so much just get good. Same goes for any sport. That’s what should drive our competitive edge. Also might help win future games by giving us a mental edge in whomever we might play down the road. But agreed that it should always be kept classy.

I became a Broncos fan because my father was and I fell in love watching Elway run around throwing bombs to the three amigos. First live game I watched they played the Colts at the RCA dome. Yes I’m old. My father and I got there early to watch warmups and was lucky enough to have Mark Jackson take a wrist band off and toss it to me as a souvenir. Coolest moment of my young life.

My first Broncos jersey was none other than the great Neil Smith. Then an Elway after that. It’s been about 19 years since I’ve owned one but I’m leaning heavily toward a Risner jersey as he is great and I have to support my fellow linemen.

You guys keep up the great work and I will stay tuned in as always.

Hey Guys,
Just back to the Thailand – USA soccer debate. According the Guardian newspaper and based on last year’s audited financial statements, US Soccer’s annual spend on the women’s national team was $17.1m out of a $71.9m annual budget. The annual budget from the Football Association of Thailand for the women is not known although it will be much smaller than that for the men’s team. Also, a large part of the budget for the Thai women’s side comes from their general manager, Nualphan Lamsam.
So looking at it in Broncos terms, it would be like the Denver Broncos playing a high school football team. No one would feel good about Von Miller sacking a high school quarterback for the 10th time and celebrating like he just sacked Tom Brady.
With Zac on this one. Keep up the good work guys and loving this additional content in a low Broncos news cycle.

Hey guys with the recent soccer debate going on I feel like I have to chime in considering I actually play soccer for the University of Utah. I’ve been playing soccer most of my life and it’s my first love, don’t worry the broncos are a close second, and I’ve been on both sides of those blowout games. Personally I have never taken issue with the opposing team or my own team celebrating and having fun after a goal, regardless of the score. I think I’m in agreement with Ryan that the line is taunting the other team, a celebration that’s deemed as taunting is actually a red card in soccer as well. In my opinion, as long as you aren’t crossing that line you have every right to celebrate scoring a goal, especially at the highest level of competition. You’ve been working your whole life for that moment. Your first international goal only comes once, you only break the record for the most goals scored in a World Cup game once, you only get the chance to celebrate each goal representing thousands of hours of work once. I think you have every right to enjoy that moment to its fullest. Whether your on my team or the other team, even if it’s 13-0. Always love the debates guys, keep up the great work as always!

Bringing it back to the Broncos. From what you’ve seen what kind of coach is Munchak? Is he the type to be loud, get in your face, and demand excellence? Or is he more the type to sit back and let his reputation do the talking while calmly interacting with the players on a more personal level? Can he finally be the one to get through to Boles? What would you think of this line left to right? Boles Leary Risner McGovern Taylor. Sorry for the long post, I got really excited hearing my favorite pod talk my favorite sport for a bit.

As always much love,

Kartch

First off wanted to apologize to Ryan if it seemed I accused him of supporting the idea of playing child abusers for the sake of winning, I only encouraged the Hill comment so you could elaborate on where the line is drawn in the “win at any cost” principle. You did elaborate and after having clarified your stance I’m with you 100%. Celebrate every goal. But stay classy.

I know I promised short and sweet comments from now on but I want to tell you guys my Super Bowl 48 story. It should make for decent podcast content during the football dry spell.
I was visiting my cousin and fellow broncos fan in North Carolina for the super bowl and we had just planned to order some pizza and junk food and do a low key watching with just family, until my aunt informs us of a standing invitation from a friend and described it as a “get together with a few friends” as well as free food. We decided to go, and when we got there it was nothing close to a get together, it was a full on house party, tons of people, mountains of food, open bar and the game was on 4 different TVs in 3 different rooms. This all sounds great but the problem was that we stuck out like a sore thumb, because everyone there was African American and every single one of them was repping Seahawks gear. I’m not racist but it’s important to mention as we stood out that much more as the only 5 white people in blue and orange in the house. We all know how the game went, and my family and I suffered the worst persecution I’ve ever experienced watching football, including a drunk dude in a referee uniform throwing a yellow flag at us every time the O line got a holding call. Needless to say we bailed at half time to finish the game at home. If this wasn’t crazy enough the next morning my aunt got a call from her friend that hosted the party and reported that every car parked out in front of her house the night before had their tires slashed when they came out. And of course everyone suspected the white broncos fans who ditched at halftime. Luckily my aunt declared our innocence and convinced them we didn’t do it.

However during all of this I never had an issue with the Seahawks celebrating every touchdown. It was the fans I couldn’t stand.

Thanks for your feedback for the hypothetical coach question, I like everyone you said but Pete Carroll, hate that guy.

Question now, how do you guys see the Broncos spreading out the quarterbacks playing time over the preseason, Flacco maybe gets a drive or two before lock comes out, then how long does he play before Rypien and so on?

Thanks for the great show, I laugh every episode and look forward to it every day.

First of all, rest in paradise to Mr B. Was shocked to read about his passing this morning. Agree with Ryan’s tweet about it being a disgrace that he didn’t get into the Hall earlier and especially not ahead of Jerry Jones.

Anyway, I was listening to another podcast and they did a show about the top players under (and including) 25 to build a roster with. If y’all had to think of 10 players that you see as building blocks for the future, who would y’all pick?

My list kept changing but I’m happy with this;

1. Chubb.
2. Lock
3. Sutton
4. Simmons
5. Lindsay
6. Fant
7. Risner
8. Will Parks
9. DaeSean
10. Chaz Green jk maybe Dre’Mont Jones for the interior pass rush.

Was a lot harder than it sounded. Wanted to include a corner and Yiadom is the only player that I would be comfortable putting here.

I am saddened to hear that Pat Bowlen passed away. I feel like he has been apart of my life for so many years and I have never actually met the man. The stories you have told about him co-mingling among the staff, players and media make him seem like a genuinely good person.

Prayers to the Family and the Broncos organization as a whole!

This one is for you Heaven!

June 14, 2019

Sad day in Broncos Country. I was 13 when Pat Bowlen famously said, “this ones for John” after upsetting the Packers in super bowl 32. I was honestly too young at that point to appreciate what a great owner Mr Bowlen was. As I’ve gotten older, I realize how lucky I am to be a fan of a team with such a great, passionate, caring, and driven owner. He’ll never be truly replaced and I’ll treasure the great memories he helped create as the owner of our awesome franchise.

Firstly thoughts and prayers to the Bowlen Family. It is a sad day for bronco fans around the world. He will be remembered and will be with the team.

My question to you guys is during the OTA’s and mini camp did Risner go full steam. As I read an article that Wolfe had to tell him to chill out.

Keep up the good work lads. DB4L

Make The Broncos Great Again

Make The Broncos Great Again

June 14, 2019

Hey guys, Sorry for the long one but it’s the off season so why not. I wanted to chime in on how I became a fan, but also elaborate on what it was like to be a fan pre-internet. I was a young, impressionable, 13 year old boy in Colorado when the Broncos acquired John Elway from the Colts in 1983. What many of you may not realize is that John Elway, back in the day, was the Patrick Mahomes of his time. He was young, highly athletic, had a cannon of an arm, could also beat you with his legs, and he pretty much lit the NFL on fire. When I went to college in Seattle in 1990 my Broncos world was rocked because I could no longer get updates on the team. No longer could I watch the Broncos play on Sundays, unless they were nationally televised. I never really minded the Seattle Seahawks, but after moving there, I sure learned how much Seahawks fans despised the Broncos. I guess it’s because every time we played them we put a beat down on them.

When the Broncos would play the Seahawks, I would scrape together as much money as I could to go watch the games in the Kingdom. The stadium was like a ghost town compared to Mile High. You’d basically get a ticket, walk in, and sit wherever you want. It almost felt like an exhibition game because no one was there. I guess you can say the 12th man didn’t show up until Russell Wilson came along.

In 1997 I bought a house and got signed up for DirectTV so I could watch Broncos games. This helped a lot, but outside of the games, there really wasn’t much info on the Broncos except for a couple websites that didn’t have a lot of content. So, I had to subscribe to the Denver Post to get consistent Broncos updates. The next year, the Broncos won the superbowl and the day after the game I bought a ticket and flew back to CO and walked in the parade Downtown. I scored a great spot to stand and watch the players give their speeches at the capitol. It was awesome!

Most of my adult life has been spent outside of Colorado and it’s always been challenging getting good info on the team. But in the last few years, with the advent of pod casts like BSN and other Bronco’s only websites, it’s gotten so much better. Now, especially in the last 2 or 3 years there’s so much info everywhere via podcasts, articles, subscriptions Etc that you can live anywhere in the world and be just as informed about your team as though you live right in the heart of Denver. I’m so thankful for this pod and the BSN community and the information I can get even while living way out west in Bend Oregon. The Broncos have always been a huge part of my life and it is enriched even more with the content you guys provide. Thank you so much for all you do and go Broncos!

Hi RK, Zac, and BSN Fam! Thanks guys for the daily content that is engaging, informative, and fun. Thanks to the BSN fam for being classy, and a great place to belong, much love to you all. Guys, you may need to add a NSFW tag on the POD! I listen to you daily with my headphones on at work and am constantly laughing out loud. People here think I am nuts, and think I actually enjoy my job!

Though I love the 2 hour POD’s, I will try to respect your time and keep it as short as I can. (Just finished, its longer than i thought, sorry)

1. #teamzacmanship – I really enjoyed the different tone of the podcast from a few days ago. One of the greatest aspects of your POD is your relationship, and like mindedness, so it’s nice when you disagree. Zac’s laugh has the power to diffuse bombs.

2. Bronco Fandom – My dad moved to California from Hawaii in the early 70’s and all of his friends were either 49er’s fans or Cowboy fans. I guess he wanted to be different and picked the Broncos as his team. Needless to say, I came out of the womb rocking the blue and orange, and my love for this team has just grown every since. I lived through the multiple disappointments of the 80’s and cried, then going back to back in 97/98 was so vindicating, i cried! The ups and downs of the post Elway era that led to the Manning years which led us to Superbowl 50, now being stuck in the post Manning years has taught me two things – as fans there will always be ups and downs; but sticking it out will always be worth it! Also, the importance of a franchise QB for the longevity of success.

4. Jersey’s – With my ties to Hawaii, the first jersey’s my dad had me in were a Jason Elam (1) and an Ashley Lelie (85). Hahaha ready to catch some flack for these; “kicker’s are people too?” Since, my collection has grown to the usual suspects, Elway, Champ, Marshall (15), Von, Peyton. Currently deciding between an Atwater or a Chubb for this season.

5. BSN Fandom – Living in SoCal; it is hard to get great Broncos coverage and even harder to find a great community of Bronco fans. I got tired of the national media as their outlooks are much different than the local media. I found Mile High Report and eventually you guys. Needless to say, I am a one team man… Broncos and BSN baby!

I wanted to say thank you again to RK and Zac for their daily efforts, and to all of BSN community here. We are truly lucky to have a place we can win together, lose together, and today mourn together. Rest easy Mr. B, and thank you for giving us a team we can have pride in no matter the outcome of a game. We will truly celebrate your life when you are enshrined in Canton! Prayers up for the Bowlens and the rest of Broncos Country; we all lost a piece of us.

Much Aloha,
Daren

Dudes,

Firmly team Zac. In international competition, it is important how you represent yourself and your nation. Think about the Olympics, How about Jesse Owens, Carl Lewis or any of a plethora of boxing greats and how they handled themselves. We bullied tiny Thailand and spat in their faces about it. International sports and how you conduct yourself is important to many folks around the world whose only exposure to the USA is through crowding into the only bar in town to huddle around the TV to watch their heroic Thai Women’s National Team get eviscerated then have their faces rubbed in it.

On ultimate frisbee:

Embarrassingly, the USAF plays a crappier version of ultimate frisbee in basic training. I was less than enthused to learn/participate in these competitions but none-the-less I’m a competitor and my team going to crush our *domestic* competition. At one point I had my sportsmanship challenged when (no joke) our team was penalized for jumping… I promptly dropped the frisbee where I stood despite an opposing player being a step or so away. The particularly mouthy opposing player was upset I had not handed him the frisbee and said: “Nice sportsmanship Christensen”, I turned and told him: “we play games like this to protect kids like you from kids like me…” things got much quieter after that and I proudly haven’t touched a frisbee since that day. That said, congrats on the Ultimate State Championship RK!

Rest easy Mr. B what you did and what you will continue to do because of the lessons you taught so many people will not just make the NFL a better place but the world also.

Dementia is a terrible disease. It not only affects the individual but the family, friends, and relationships around them. By no means am I saying that Alzheimer’s is more important than other diseases, but it is the most expensive disease in

America, costing more than heart disease and cancer. However, gets significantly less money for research. Alzheimer’s disease is an issue near and dear to me. I completely understand that there are other diseases that need funding, but not one person has survived Alzheimer’s or the other 3 forms of dementia. By 2050 Alzheimer’s it’s self will have cost the USA nearly a trillion dollars in covering the cost for care. Again not trying to rub people the wrong way I have lost a number of people because of cancer, but there is a grey wave coming, our population is going to become significantly skewed with the baby boomers generation retiring. I don’t care what party you affiliate with but what I do care about is quality of life for older adults, and if people advocate to their local, state, and federal politicians then just maybe one day we can finally have the first survivor.

I have spoken to a few people on here about this, I know the NFL does breast cancer month, I wonder if they will do anything Alzheimer’s related at the Hall of fame. Seems like it would be a good way to get some good publicity amongst the general population with all the negative things that have happened in recent years.

Again I am not saying Cancer or any other disease does not matter, I am sure it has affected a number of individuals apart of the BSN community, but when you have a 0% survival rate and its something that’s costing the most money in the country, and also can lead to serious mental health issues for all parties involved in caring for the person with AD something needs to change.

Please feel free to tell me how wrong I am or ask me how to best advocate for the advancement research with Alzheimer’s disease.

Long live Mr. B’s legacy thank you again for all you have done, you are an inspiration
