The mark of a successful coaching staff is other teams wanting to hire away assistants and promote them to higher positions. The first one of those dominoes officially fell on Monday for Gary Kubiak’s staff.
Brian Callahan, who served six seasons with the Broncos as an offensive assistant with additional duties coaching quarterbacks, has been hired by the Detroit Lions to be their quarterbacks coach.

Brian is the son of former NFL head coach Bill Callahan. In Detroit, he joins back up with Jim Bob Cooter, another former Broncos assistant who was made the team’s offensive coordinator last season.
Don’t expect this to be the last time another team wants somebody off of this Super Bowl-champion staff.

I feel like this opens the door to make a run for Matt Stafford. This team is built to win and win now. I didn’t see enough from Brock to make me think he’s ready to fill the starters role on a defending championship team for a full season (let alone a half). If the Broncos are serious about keeping this train rolling we need an engine that can perform and Stafford is the kind of QB that a guy like Elway can appreciate,. He fits the bill in my eyes. Toss it around folks…
