I remember thinking about this during the draft. It was a little frustrating that it felt like we needed to re-address so many similar positions just a year later. But it’s good to see Elway admit so quickly that they had misses.

Which class has more starters this year? KR/PR/3rd WR/Nickel formation can be included since they play such significant positions and amounts.

I feel like the more obvious guys are Bolles and Butt from 2017 & Chubb and DeaSean Hamilton/3rd WR- possibly Sutton if Emmanual plays some slot from 2018.

I think Royce has a shot at RB. A few guys have a shot at a returner job. Maybe a CB has an outside shot of playing in the nickel formation.

I’d like to hear what you guys think! Thanks.

IT’s a great question, Preston. My guess is it will be very close. 2017 you know Bolles will be a starter and Butt should be. Walker, Carlos Henderson and Isaiah McKenzie (PR) will all compete fro starting roles. 2018 you know Chubb will start and either Sutton or Hamilton will likely start at the 3rd WR. Freeman will compete to start, but I would give the early nod to Booker.

So it will be close, great question!

This was a great idea, putting the 2017 and 2018 draftees up against each other. It really shows the parallel between both years in which positions Elway was swinging at. Interesting to see such similarity in positions picked by round.

Would have loved to see something similar comparing the outgoing coaches and the new incoming coaches, laying out their philosophies and backgrounds. I know those things were discussed here and there in past pods, but this format just illustrates so clearly the differences in the schools of thought.

This isn’t necessarily something I’m asking for, as I realize that “culture” and the need for change also factored into the decision to clean house with the coaching staff.

Thanks so much, Mark! I found it incredibly interesting just HOW similar the two drafts were and thought I might as well write an article about it to share with everyone else! haha. That would be very interesting to compare the coaching staffs!
