My bet is that Elway is not going to take a QB at 5. I think he’s after somebody else, like Barkley. He subtly telegraphs what he’s going to do and not throwing Lynch under the bus is pretty interesting to me and so is not saying that CJ is around for sure next year. My guess is they trade or cut CJ and draft a RB. If they take a Barkley, who do you see that falls into the second round who can help them on the O-Line?

Good observations, Tom! The draft is very deep with RBs and OGs, so if the Broncos wait until the second round to draft a guard there are plenty of options such as Will Hernandez and Isaiah Wynn. Those guys are late first, early second-round prospects.

Though I doubt it, I would hope Will Hernandez will be around at 40. He could help the O-Line as well. I’ve said it before, Nelson would be a great add, but Hernandez is not far away. Hernandez would also be a GREAT fit due to the Offensive Line-Guards/Centers coach Sean Kugler was also his head coach at UTEP the last couple years (I spent 3 years at Fort Bliss and saw a couple of games with these two in them). However, I believe Hernandez has been rising in the draft chart. As for the next real Guard, well I do not know enough about the leftovers in the G or T positions. You will have to let Andre fill you in in either his past posts/columns/podcasts or his response to your question personally.
