Great job as always, RK. Love seeing Shane’s perspective on his 5th year option not being picked up.

Interesting read RK. Makes you wonder how different the situation would be now if he did stay in IR all season.

I had the same thoughts, honestly. My opinion: If he stayed on IR, they would have picked up that option.

“Every decision starts with the bread.” Love that line. Great piece RK. Shane showing some great maturity and rolling with the situation the right way. Class act. Love he sees that it’s a similar situation now as when he came into the league with a whole stable of talented pass rushers. While the decision not to pick up his option said a lot about what management thought about Shane, and how they view Shaq, if he does ball doesn’t the team still have to choose between them? Or is there a scenario where they can keep both?

Thanks, Mark. I was really impressed with the maturity that Shane displayed, as well.

They will still have to chose between Shaq and Shane officially at some point, but this decision sort of points to that decision already being made. If Shane balls out, they could try to keep him around but they’ll have cost themselves a bunch of money by not picking up that option.
