The Denver Broncos have executed a trade that will bring 2016 second-round pick Su’a Cravens from Washington to Denver, as first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Cravens, a linebacker-safety hybrid out of USC, has had an interesting start to his career, to say the least. After playing in 11 games (three starts) as a rookie at both linebacker and safety, and registering 23 tackles, a sack, and an interception, the promising young player was slated to be the full-time starter at free safety in 2017.
Just a week before the season, though, Cravens shockingly announced his decision to retire from the game of football, citing personal and health reasons. After some convincing from Redskins team president, Bruce Allen, Cravens decided to hold off on the retirement and was placed on the team’s exempt list and later on the reserve/left squad list, forfeiting the entire 2017 season.
Talks of a potential Cravens-to-Denver trade began to surface at the NFL Scouting Combine in early March and apparently were pushed through at the Annual League Meeting in Orlando this week.
The full details of the trade are as follows:
Broncos get
Su’a Cravens
2018 4th-round pick (113)
2018 5th-round pick (149)
Redskins get
2018 4th-round pick (109)
2018 5th-round pick (142)
2018 5th-round pick (163)
2018 conditional 6th-round pick
Cravens projects to help Denver with their struggles to cover the tight end from the linebacker and safety positions.
Stay tuned to BSN Denver for more coverage of the Cravens acquisition.

I’ll take it, definitely raises question as to how the team goes about Derain Stewart and his future. I’m not a big fan of him. Feel like this trade was a steal in terms of value for us

I can’t wait to see Andre’s film study on him! It’ll be interesting to see whether he can get back to full strength in both his body and mind.

Judging by his Twitter reaction, he’s clearly glad to be out of Washington and with the Broncos. I love what he can put out on the field, just hope he has the mental toughness to be consistently solid. Wolfe raised some concern about the mental toughness of the rookies last year when he co-hosted on 104.3 yesterday. Would be awesome if Ryan or Zach could pull some strings and bring in a player live sometime as well. I’m sure any player would leap at the chance to talk on the best Denver sports outlet in town.
