GLENDALE, Ariz. — Bo Nix has his breakout game of the season in the Denver Broncos‘ 30-16 blowout win over the Arizona Cardinals.
And it was one for the history books.
With 3:57 left in the second quarter, Nix saw green grass and took off for a record-setting 62-yard touchdown.
“There was a lot of space and I was just really hoping to get into the end zone,” Nix stated, taking reporters through the run. “I was fortunate there was nobody there until the goal line. And at that point, I had to score.”
Nix’s run was one for the record books. The 62-yarder wasn’t just the longest touchdown run by a Broncos quarterback, it was the longest run by a quarterback in franchise history. Additionally, it was the longest touchdown run by a quarterback in the NFL since at least 2016, according to NextGenStats.
“There’s not a lot of times you get a lot of open space unavoided running in the open field,” Nix said. “That was really cool.”

After months of outside speculation about the health of his ankle following offseason surgery on it, Nix was pleased to show the public that his ankle is doing just fine.
“Yeah it’s really nice. That’s just part of it until people see it. They never really believe you. Who knows, there will still be people probably asking about it,” Nix said with a big smile.

Nix’s game didn’t stop there, however. He played well through the air too. Along with a 62-yard touchdown run, Nix had 52-yard touchdown pass to RJ Harvey.
With that, Nix became just the fourth quarterback in the modern era to have a rushing touchdown of at least 50 yards and a passing touchdown of at least 50 yards in a single game. Nix joined Lamar Jackson, Cam Newton and Justin Fields in that honor.
But it was the plays he made through the air that he pointed to after the game.
