Running down the significant stats and notable numbers following the Broncos’ 27-7 Week 4 win in a sunny-turned-stormy Tampa, Fla., on Sunday afternoon/evening.

Denver has now reeled off nine straight wins since a Week 15 loss in Pittsburgh last December, and according to Broncos PR extraordinaire Patrick Smyth, the Orange & Blue are the first team since the 1986 Bears to have a win streak of six or more games in which four different quarterbacks took snaps.

That, of course, resulted from Trevor Siemian’s shoulder injury which forced the second-year QB from the game. Enter rookie Paxton Lynch, who proceeded to complete 14-of-24 passes for 170 yards and a touchdown and lead the Broncos to 13 unanswered points. Lynch continues the 2016 success of rookie QBs. Six – Lynch, the Cowboys’ Dak Prescott, the Eagles’ Carson Wentz, the Patriots’ Jacoby Brissett, the Browns’ Cody Kessler and the Seahawks’ Trevone Boykin – have attempted a pass so far and have combined for 11 scoring tosses and only two interceptions in 394 total attempts.

The Broncos, meanwhile, only rushed for 89 yards on 32 attempts, bringing their two-game road total this season to 141 yards on 55 carries for a less-than-impressive 2.56 yards per attempt. In their two home contests, the Broncos rushed for 282 yards on 60 attempts (4.7 ypa).

Of course, any and all Orange & Blue offensive shortcomings continue to be masked by a dominating defense, which limited the Bucs to all of 215 total yards – the fewest in 20 games under current head coach/former offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter.

Denver surrendered 96 total yards and seven points on 22 plays in the first quarter but limited the hosts to zero points and 119 yards on 44 plays – a minuscule 2.7 per play – over the final three quarters.

With the Bucs scoring on only one of their 13 drives – and turning it over on three others –Denver foes now have scored on only 12-of-46 offensive possessions (26.1 percent) on the season and turned it over on 7-of-46 drives (15.2 percent).

Helping spearhead the defensive effort was CB Aqib Talib, who intercepted a pair of first-half passes to set up the Broncos’ first two TDs. Talib now has intercepted 33 passes since entering the league as a first-round Bucs draft pick in 2008, which is four more than any other cornerback in the league during that span.

Also registering prominently in the box score was DE Derek Wolfe, who bagged 2.5 sacks – the first two-sack game of his career. Wolfe now has at least a half-sack in 11 of his last 14 games.

With Jameis Winston finishing 17-of-35 for 179 yards, no TDs and two picks, the Broncos now have held all four opponents to 189 or fewer passing yards this season. Since the start of last season, the Denver D has accomplished that feat in an NFL-most 11 games, winning 10 of those contests.

Finally, to update the historical run the Broncos’ D is on, the last seven opposing quarterbacks – Ben Roethlisberger, Tom Brady, Cam Newton (twice), Andrew Luck, Andy Dalton and Winston – have combined for only three TD passes while throwing eight interceptions and losing a trio of fumbles.
