Broncos will tag WR Thomas for 2015

At least one Thomas will be back in Denver next year.

Broncos will place their franchise tag of WR Demaryius Thomas before today’s 4 ET deadline.

In a move that has been expected for weeks the Broncos will use their “Non Exclusive” franchise tag on Demaryius Thomas.

By the “Non Exclusive” tag the Broncos are placing, other teams will still be allowed to negotiate with Thomas. Denver would have the right to match any deal and if they didn’t, the negotiating team would surrender two first round draft picks to the Broncos.

Thomas would make nearly $13 million in 2015 with the tag, all guaranteed.

The Broncos will likely try to sign Thomas long-term past this season, but could tag him again in 2016.

In three seasons with Manning, Thomas has compiled 297 receptions, 4,483 yards, and 35 touchdowns.
