You would think we would have reached a lull somewhere here in the Broncos’ news cycle, but things keep on spinning as fast and furious as ever.

Here’s a look at back at the eventful week that was in Broncos Country:

Headline: Derek Wolfe nightclub fracas winds up on TMZ

Bottom line: Odds are that just about every NFL team is going to have at least one TMZ featured performer over the course of a year, and the odds of that Bronco being Wolfe were pretty high. At least, though, the incident doesn’t appear to have been a major one with no charges or serious injuries involved, and even the NFL quickly weighed in, saying that it’s not likely to draw a disciplinary suspension. Hopefully, it’ll serve as a relatively painless lesson learned for the Wolfe-man.

Headline: Breaking-news reports say Broncos have talked with Johnny Manziel

Bottom line: Media outlets – especially one in particular of the four-letter variety – jump at the chance to blow up any kind of Manziel mention into a breathless, breaking story, and that fully appears to be the case here as what looks to be a simple courtesy check-up call between two Texas A&M grads (Gary Kubiak and Manziel) was suddenly transformed into a The-Desperate-Broncos-Are-Signing-Johnny-Football trending Twitter topic. And despite backing from another Bronco with A&M ties in Von Miller, an Orange & Blue No. 2 jersey isn’t being set aside for Manziel, who should be headed nowhere but another extended stay in rehab.

Headline: Denver’s 2016 preseason schedule released

Bottom line: Yawn. Expect the real deal next week.

Headline: Broncos sign defensive lineman Jared Crick

Bottom line: Now Crick isn’t the next Malik Jackson, but the former fourth-round pick is an underrated, relatively low-cost plug-in option as evidenced by his 31 starts and 104 total tackles over the last two seasons with the Texans. The former Nebraska standout’s forte is stopping the run, and in being reunited with Kubiak, defensive coordinator Wade Phillips and defensive-line coach Bill Kollar, definitely count on Crick to be in the mix to start opposite Wolfe at the other DE position.

Headline: Team gets new long snapper in Casey Kreiter

Bottom line: We’re still left to wonder where things went wrong with former long-snapper Aaron Brewer, who was surprisingly released last month and wound up signing with – who else? – the Bears, but Kreiter will look to fill the bill after spending the last two preseasons with the Cowboys. The former University of Iowa standout, however, has yet to see regular-season action, and the first errant snap suddenly will thrust this seemingly innocuous spring trade-off under the microscope.

Headline: Ryan Clady and a seventh-round pick traded to the Jets for a fifth-round selection

Bottom line: Clady’s up-and-down seven-year Mile High City run came to an end last month when the Broncos signed Russell Okung, and D’Brickashaw Ferguson’s retirement created a logical trading partner in the Jets. The move brings the Broncos a second fifth-round pick and seven selections in the first five rounds – or top 157 picks overall – and even more importantly gives the team an extra and much-needed $8 million in salary-cap space to work with this offseason.
