As reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter Saturday afternoon, the Broncos and Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller are not expected to reach an agreement on a long-term contract before Tuesday’s deadline to franchise tag players.
Von Miller not expected to reach long-term deal before Tues deadline for franchise tags, per source close to talks. Miller then franchised.

This comes just a few days after it was beginning to look like the two parties would get a deal done.
Of course, there was always a good chance Denver would have to franchise Miller, whose value may never be higher than directly after an absolutely dominant performance on the game’s greatest stage. The concern has never been about keeping Miller, but more about keeping the pieces around him, the inability to come to a long-term agreement could affect that greatly.
Once Denver uses franchise tag on Von Miller, QB Brock Osweiler and DE Malik Jackson then would be poised to hit free-agent market.

In this league, it’s never easy to keep a championship team together. Unfortunately for the Broncos, it seems the first few dominoes of the roster breakup are beginning to fall. With all of this being said, never count out John Elway on getting a deal together last minute.
