The Denver Broncos have agreed to a deal with reserve cornerback Tramaine Brock on a one-year, $4 million dollar deal, as first reported by Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
Brock, a former Viking just like the other Broncos free-agent acquisition, only played 51 defensive snaps last season for the dominant Minnesota defense in an injury-riddled season. He previously had multiple strong seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, including 2013 when he had a career-high five interceptions and 2016 when he had 14 passes defensed and an 81.7 rating on Pro Football Focus.
The Mississippi native will compete for the Broncos third cornerback spot with last season’s third-round pick Brendan Langley, behind starters Chris Harris Jr. and Bradley Roby. Marcus Rios, an undrafted rookie last season, will also get a shot.
The addition of a corner was considered a priority for the Broncos during this free agency period, in addition to, of course, quarterback, offensive line and wide receiver, to name a few.
After two consecutive 50-tackle, 10-PBU seasons before going to Minnesota, the Broncos will hope Brock can regain his form when healthy.
