ENGLEWOOD, CO – With the 63rd pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, The Denver Broncos select,  Adam Gotsis, Defensive Tackle, Georgia Tech.

Gotsis is a very interesting prospect as he has spent more time playing Australian Rules football in his life than American football. That’s right, Gotsis hails from Abbotsford, Australia where he lived all the way up until he entered school at Georgia tech, a school which he gained interest in from a flyer he read when he was in 14.

At Georgia Tech, Gotsis was a second-team All-ACC player in 2014 and an honorable mention in 2015. Last season, the Aussie garnered 31 tackles, five for loss, and three sacks in nine games, but saw his season cut short with a November knee injury suffered against Virginia.

NFL.com lists Gotsis’ strengths as follows:

Broad-shouldered, sturdy frame with long arms and big hands. Plays with power at point of attack despite lack of desired weight for interior. Comes off snap with decent pad level. Powerful base and can anchor up against double teams and fight through redirect blocks. Team captain. Can run with athletic gait. Heavy tackler using blunt force and an aggressive finish.

The picks is widely considered a reach for the Broncos but the team has displayed a great eye for talent on the defensive line in the past. He will look to become the 12th Australian-born player to plan an NFL game and just the fourth position player.
