Broncos second rounder DeMarcus Walker has a bone to pick with the NFL

ENGLEWOOD, Colo — I guess you could say the Broncos have a bit of a premium on rushing the passer.

The team with potentially the most potent group of quarterback torturers in the league—with the likes of Von Miller, Shane Ray, Derek Wolfe and Shaq Barrett on the roster—just got stronger.

With pick No. 51 in the 2017 NFL draft, the Broncos selected DeMarcus Walker, a rush-specializing defensive end out of Florida State University. Walker had an eye-opening 16 sacks last season at FSU to go along with 19.5 tackles for loss.

That’s first-round type production, and Walker just may have taken a bit of exception to the fact that it didn’t warrant a first-round selection.

“8 rushers got picked before me,” he posted on Twitter this morning. “PLEASE remember this!!”

Unfortunately for him, two more pass rushers were taken ahead of him, fortunately for the Broncos, he unexpectedly fell into their lap, and now they have a guy with a bone to pick.

“Even if I would have been the first pass rusher I would have always had a chip on my shoulder, but there’s even more right now,” he said on a brief conference call with Denver media.

The main question about Walker was in relation to his fit in the NFL, he’s not your usual athletic freak on the edge of a 3-4, but he is sound in his technique and has a nice stable of moves.

What does he say to those questions?

“I have nothing to say; I’ll just show them.”

Short, sweet and to the point, sounds a true pass rusher.
