Broncos match Dolphins offer, C.J. Anderson stays in Denver

They waited to the 11th hour, literally, but the Denver Broncos informed C.J. Anderson that they will match the four-year $18 million offer presented by the Miami Dolphins, as originally reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Anderson will stay in the Orange & Blue for the foreseeable future.

In his three-year career with the Broncos, Anderson has rushed for 1,607 yards and 13 TDs on 338 carries. Most notably, a 48-yard game-winning touchdown in overtime against the Patriots and a game-clinching TD in the Broncos Super Bowl 50 victory.

Just last week, John Elway stated he wants to build a team with players who “want to be Broncos,” Anderson had made it very, very clear he wanted to be a Bronco and Elway got it done.

The bulldozing runningback, who has averaged nearly five yards per carry in his career, was an undrafted free agent, the Broncos placed a late-round tender on him, meaning they would have received no compensation if they didn’t match the Dolphins offer. Instead, C.J. stays, making many Broncos fans very happy.
