ENGLEWOOD, Colo – Frightening news fell over Broncos Country on Sunday afternoon when reports surfaced that Demaryius Thomas was seeking a second opinion on a hip injury he suffered during Thursday night’s game.

While it is not yet clear what the first or second opinion were on the hip, on Monday, head coach Gary Kubiak offered news that should be cause for a sigh of relief for Broncos fans.

“He did not practice today,” Kubiak said. “We rested him today, but my expectations are for him to be ready to go on Wednesday. He was feeling pretty good today.”

Kubiak said he did not have a comment on whether or not Thomas did indeed seek a second opinion, stating, “I just know he’s feeling really good, and we expect him to be on the field,” but maintained a very positive tone when talking about his big option on the outside.

Thomas was pretty obviously compromised in the season opener, putting down a warrior-worthy four catches for 48 yards, despite a visible limp ailing him throughout the final three quarters of the game.

“He came out early, went back in and played well,” the head coach said. “I think he was sore but, like I said, we’ve had a couple of days here, he had some good treatment over the weekend, and he could have practiced today if we wanted him to, but we’ll hold off until Wednesday.”

There is still some uncertainty surrounding the injury to the Broncos No. 1 wide receiver, but it certainly appears not to be season-threatening and in a potential best case scenario, not even game-threatening.

As for the rest of the receiving corps, Jordan Norwood, who was tested a concussion during the game, was a full participant in practice and Bennie Fowler, Thomas’ likely replacement if he were to miss a game, was “pretty much” a full participant, but is still day-to-day.
