Broncos finally make multiple moves on the defensive line

As one player after another has dropped off the board in free agency, fans have been left to wonder what’s going on at Dove Valley. On Saturday afternoon, John Elway and Co. finally made a move to bolster things on the front end of their defensive line.

The Broncos have agreed to terms with two interior linemen in Domata Peko and Zach Kerr, as originally reported by Mike Klis of 9 News.

Peko, formerly of the Cincinnati Bengals, will be heading into his 12th season in the NFL in 2017. He has started all 16 games in 10 of those 11 seasons and had been effective in just about all of them. With that being said, the 32-year-old had his worst season last year on a struggling Bengals squad, tallying just 37 tackles and zero sacks. Pro Football Focus ranked Peko as the 104th interior defender in the NFL on the season.

Peko will join cousin Kyle on the Broncos.

Unfortunately for those hoping for big-name signings, Kerr did not play much better last season. He ranked just one spot ahead of Peko on the interior with a 42.9 grade according to PFF (Peko 42.6). He tallied 2.5 sacks on the season as well as 19 tackles. The 26-year-old has the ability to play nose tackle and defensive end in the Broncos 3-4 scheme. He has no relatives on the Broncos, nor is he related to Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr.

Both players signed two-year deals with the team.
