BSN Denver has confirmed that Denver Broncos’ top inside linebacker, Brandon Marshall is contemplating an offseason holdout to leverage a contract extension. The Broncos placed a second-round tender on Marshall earlier in the offseason which pays him just over $2.5 million this year.
Marshall could hold out until June 15, or just about when mini-camp is expected to begin, without penalty. After that point, the Broncos would have the right to re-tender him at a significant discount.
In 2015, Marshall led the Broncos with 77 solo tackles, trailing just Danny Trevathan in total tackles with 102. With Trevathan jumping ship to Chicago to play for the Bears, Marshall is expected to be the leader of the Denver linebacking core.
Despite his high level of play last season, Marshall received no competing offers on his second round tender.
