Broncos, 49ers agree to deal hinging on Kaepernick re-structure

As reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, The Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers have agreed on the parameters of a trade that would send quarterback Colin Kaepernick to Denver, there’s just one last obstacle.

Kaepernick is owed nearly $12 million this season on his current contract, with a cap hit of more than $15 million. The Broncos don’t have that kind of cap space and are seeking a much more friendly deal.

Kaepernick was in Denver this week to meet with Broncos VP of Football Operations/General Manager John Elway but the two parties are still reported to be pretty far off on the potential re-structure.

If the deal were to go through, the Broncos would be sending a mid-round pick to San Francisco.
