The press room at Dove Valley was as full as Ive seen it since the week leading up to the AFC Championship game in January 2014. At least for a week there is a new sheriff in town, and his weapon of choice is a Brocket Launcher.

OK now that I got my required Brock Osweiler pun out of the way.

The condition of the fields due to weather at the UC health training center forced practice inside along with the weekly Wednesday press conference that features the starting quarterback of the Denver Broncos.

We talked to Bears Quarterback Jay Cutler moments before about when he took over a seven win football team that had an established quarterback at the helm and how that can lead to tremendous pressure. Cutler took over the Broncos at 7-5 when he was named the starter and finished at 8-8 his rookie year, missing the playoffs.

Despite the big stage and pressure, Brock Osweiler looked calm, cool and collected  in his first full press conferance as the Broncos starting quarterback

“I’m not so much worried about the spotlight, but I’m very excited to be playing football again in the regular season. That’s what I’m truly excited about,” Osweiler said. “I’m truly excited to go into battle with my teammates on the road in Chicago. Like I said, this is something that you dream about your whole life, being a starting quarterback in the National Football League, but it’s beyond a dream. What it really is it is a team going to Chicago that needs to get a win. We know that we need to get a win and that’s what our soul and primary focus is on this week.”

Gary Kubiak is confident in Osweiler that the moment isn’t too big for him.

Certainly sitting behind one of the best to do it for a few years will help a great deal in learning to prepare the right way. “Without question. The things that I’ve learned behind him—I don’t know where a quarterback gets elsewhere,” Osweiler said. “Like I’ve told you before, I really have not wasted a single day when I’ve been here in this building, in the room with Peyton. He has so much knowledge of defenses, how to be a professional and offensive football that if I wasn’t locked in every single day sitting behind him, I’d be crazy. Certainly getting that time to sit behind him, learn the game and get a lot of practice reps really has helped me.”

Osweiler seems ready for the moment he’s been waiting for his whole life. “It’s a dream come true. It really is. Growing up in Kalispell, [Montana], obviously there’s a huge following of the Denver Broncos and there are a lot of Broncos fans. I remember watching  John as a kid and Jake (Plummer) and the rest of those guys. Certainly it is a dream come true, but I kind of put that aside as of last night and I’m just treating this week like a normal work week. I have a job to do and this team has a job to do. That’s what we’re focused on.”
