Boyle's Buffs add former conference rival and NBA player to staff

Tad Boyle’s Colorado Buffaloes just a hit a home run. According to Jeff Goodman of ESPN, the Boulder hoopers will be adding former Missouri star Kim English to their coaching staff.

Colorado coach Tad Boyle has hired Tulsa assistant Kim English (aka The Pride of Notre Dame Prep), source told ESPN. Love the hire.

Boyle was replacing the gig vacated by Jean Prioleau, who took the head coaching gig at San Jose State over the weekend.

English was drafted No. 44 overall in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons. He played in 41 games during the 2012-13 season, then played in the D-Leauge and some overseas. He’s spent the last few years at Tulsa as an assistant.

As a player the 6-6, 200-pound English averaged 11.1 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.1 steals during his four-year career at Missouri. He tallied 1,570 points, ranking No. 13 in program history. He earned third-team All-Big 12 honors in 2010 and 2012.

In 2012, English averaged 14.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.3 steals, while leading Missouri to a 30-5 record and a berth in the NCAA Tournament playing for now Tulsa coach Frank Haith.

“Kim has a tremendous future in this business,” Frank Haith, the head coach of Tulsa said. “I saw his future potential as a coach when he was a player for me at Missouri. Anyone who has met Kim sees his personality, and his ability to be an effective recruiter. He will be really good on the floor with our guys, and I think the sky is the limit for him as a coach. Kim will be able to use his experience of playing for me and lend his perspective to all of our new players, and really help speed up the growth and education process.”
