Jay Norvell hoped to add another experienced offensive lineman to the roster. On Tuesday afternoon, the second-year Rams coach got his wish with the commitment of Bobby Lawrence.
A 6-foot-9, 321-pound offensive tackle with 36 games of previous experience at the University of Missouri, Lawrence is a big addition for the program — both literally and figuratively.
A former three-star recruit out of Central High School in St. Joseph, Missouri, Lawrence first saw action as a redshirt freshman in the 2019 season when he played in four total games and made one start. Lawrence then played in nine games in 2020, including a pair of starts against Tennessee and LSU. And he was regular part of the rotation in the trenches over the past two seasons, making 23 total appearances for the SEC squad.
Having played both left and right tackle in his career, Lawrence comes to Fort Collins with incredibly valuable and rare experience, especially in a power five conference. Though CSU’s starting five played particularly well throughout the spring, Lawrence will likely have a good chance to start for the Rams in 2023.
He is a three-time SEC Honor Roll selection and has one season of eligibility remaining.
