Bill Belichick uses double-digit adjectives to describe Von Miller

In his seven regular and postseason games against Tom Brady the New England Patriots, Denver Broncos superstar pass rusher Von Miller averaging more than one sack per contest. In the latest and most important matchup—the 2015 American Football Conference Championship Game—Miller put down an eye-popping two and a half sack performance, leading the Broncos to Super Bowl 50.

More than one sack per game against anybody is more than impressive, to do it against a quarterback like Tom Brady, who gets rid of the ball as fast as anyone ever, is flat out astounding. Miller even said it in a recently-released Player’s Tribune article in which he describes “The Five Toughest Guys I’ve Faced”:  “Brady almost turns the whole game into a seven-on-seven drill because of how fast he’s able to get rid of the ball.”

Those seven and a half sacks against the best quarterback in the NFL have earned Miller the respect of the best coach in the NFL. On Wednesday, during a conference call with Denver media, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was asked about Miller and emptied the adjective bank gushing over the Broncos star.

“Really good, very hard guy to block,” he said. “He can do a lot of things, he’s explosive, he’s fast, quick, can play with power. Ever when you get him blocked he doesn’t stay blocked, he has the ability to separate. Instinctive, quick to get off of [the ball], anticipates plays—screens and misdirection plays, things like that you would think would slow him down—he sees them and reacts to them very quickly. He’s an outstanding player.”

As you might expect, the praise is not a one-way street. In that same Player’s Tribune piece, who did Miller say was the toughest coach to go against? You guessed it, ‘The Hoodie.’

“His genius comes from the fact that he always gameplans based on the personnel he has,” Miller said. “He’s had Hall of Famers like Randy Moss, and he’s also had guys who you never heard of before, and no matter what, the Patriots are always contenders.”

We said it yesterday, we’ll say it again: Real recognize real.
