John Axford was placed on family medical emergency list by the Rockies sunday so he could tend to his 2 year old son Jameson. Colorado added RHP Scott Oberg to take Axford’s spot on the active roster.
Axford’s son was bit by a rattlesnake in late March, and has been battling complications from it ever since.
I’d also like to thank you all again for your well wishes for Jameson…today was a good day. #BirthdayCakeCheers pic.twitter.com/BXfLbrHp83

Axford initially joined the Rockies to start the season and earned a save in the opening series vs Milwaukee.
That save was for Jameson!

Unfortunately conditions for Jameson have gotten worse. “The necrotic tissue on his foot ended up being worse than we thought,” said Axford “There was a lot of infection in there and it was a staph infection. The tissue they thought was going to be good turned out to not be great. His foot is in pretty rough shape in spots.”
“We still have a long road, a long process to go,” Axford said. “But at least I’ll be able to be closer to him.”
It look’s like Jameson is in good spirits.
