The ones with all the blobs are heat maps! Dark red means a lot of shots from those spots, dark blue means no shots from those spots. Positive numbers on offense = good. Negative numbers on defense = good. Numbers are relative to league average.

I think I prefer Drouin and Val to start out with Nate but either way it’s a good looking top 6. Having both Landy and Val for a full series really changes the dynamic of the team’s net front presence. My lasting impression of the season will be watching Lehkie get the tip on the puck mid-flight while Logan Stanley is cross-checking him out to the face-off dot.

I went through the minutes distribution to see if there was a great combination and a truly bad combination and the only one that stood out was the Lehkonen-MacKinnon-Necas line, which left the second line as a sort of “leftovers” line. There were a bunch of combinations that played between 20-50 minutes together with mixed results, so I just made it easier on myself and went with a known quantity.

Knowing Bednar, we will see plenty of combinations until one finds traction.
