Good call out on the Nieto issues. I think he played Soderberg back into the lineup last night. No player should be taking 3 minors in a game, let alone a 4th line player.

Very encouraging start to the season, but last year was very similar.

This is a very good write-up by Dater to start the season. The first three sentences were all bullseyes. “Brilliant” is an overused word in sports (and society in general), but not so in describing Varlamov’s play last night at MSG. It’s like he was already in ‘playoff peak’-form, somehow. Good summaries of the other Avs as well, and spot-on in identifying our anemic puck clearing in the D-zone as an old habit that needs to be put to death immediately.
