If I’m DeBoer, I chip, chase, and forecheck MacKinnon to death. Like the mild a few yrs back, keep the Avs in their D zone. That’s the only hope SJ has.

I’m not sure the Sharks Defense will be able to do that. MacKinnon is extremely fast and was able to crush Mikael Backlund last series. Nobody on the Sharks FWD core could hope to contain him better than Backlund (at least on paper). So to me it’s more a question if Martin Jones can beat MacKinnon than anyone else

Exactly, attack the D, wear them down, d-core is bound to make a mistake. If the avs can move it quickly with this new look young D core, the sharks might not a choice.

The speed of avs defense cleaning up dumped in pucks has been underrated. Even big z and Nemeth were doing a great job of managing the puck last series. If they can keep that up, that will discourage the dump and chase.

When I think of the sharks burning the avs I think of burns elusiveness and quick shots and tipped in pucks. So net front. I think that’s why goalie practice involved saves through a screen.

Simple, if gruby stays hot we win and nothing else matters

Negating the SJS physical play is big on my to-do list. Jones can be a basket-case, so get to him early, then often, and a round 3 appearance is more than a thought.

Cue up the old TV Series “Alias Smith and Jones”. Smith, Jones . . . it doesn’t matter if Gruuubs stays solid. If the Avs can pressure the net and get off shots like they did against Smith, I have to think Jones has trouble stopping some of those. Smith played out-of-his-gourd despite losing the series. I said early on in the VGK/SJS series I’d rather face the Sharks because Fleury is a playoff-tested Netminder.

I’m not a big fan of going 11F – 7D against the Sharks.
It’s looking to be a physical series, and I think I’d rather not put the extra skating & hitting on some guys by going 11F – 7D.

I hope Z plays a smart, physical game to help in neutralizing the physical play of the Sharks. Overall, I hope the Avs come out strong!

12/6. Makar with Cole. Brassard on the 4th line.

I like this. Bednar taking our best 18 skaters and going for broke. No hedging bets.
