Thank you for this type of content. I love the articles but these little tid bit type of articles really put you over the top compared to the competition and is what makes the subscription worth it. I look forward to this type of content in the future.

Perfect synopsis for the two day break. Thanks AD, you all continue to make us part of the team. BSN has been an Avs fans game changer.

I have been vocal in my thoughts regarding Varly and they align with yours. As a veteran, at this point in his career, he needs to be relied on by his teammates. I just don’t feel he is mentally tough enough for the stretch. I really hope he proves me wrong.

Saying that….I did wake up and realize again, that on March 11th, the Avs are in a playoff spot. Not matter how it ends up…..that’s going to be good enough for me for 2017/18.

Many of the things you write are spot on. It’s always good to get more in-depth information on the team I love, and I appreciate you doing that for me. Even though this season still hangs in the balance, and the next two games will tell us a lot, I’m still happy with the improvement we have made in the last 6 month’s. Yes, the Duchene trade was huge, and I’m hoping more of those pieces from that trade can contribute to our success very soon.

The future, I think, is bright. Hey, a lot of stuff can derail things in a hurry. Hockey is nothing if not fickle and unforgiving. But Makar and Timmins should make a massive difference when they get here, and the forwards are still pretty young.

Definitely impressive that the Avs have been able to hang in there with EJ out. I agree that the goaltending may make or break whether they make the playoffs or not. That being said, the next 14 games look really really tough and even with very good goaltending, they may not make it. Looks like they’ll need to go 5-2 at home and .500 on the road perhaps to get into the tournament. Not sure that’s possible given who they have to play and their road woes.

Thankfully the Avs have gotten quite a bit of out of town help last couple days..hopefully that continues. Haven’t really noticed too many bad 3point games either. I think Avs are gonna need a little bit of puck luck down the stretch, hopefully we can continue to get some help across the league.

The Avs have been able to compete with –and beat some of the best teams in the league. The OT loss to a streaking Nashville team was a good example of that. Allowing that last minute goal can be attributed to inexperience, and some bad luck. They have shown that they need to get some experience shutting teams down late in the game, and to play a bit smarter and conservative in the OTs.

This season has been an unexpected treat to watch, and when you consider the ages of most of their key players, the Avs are way ahead of the curve. I did not expect them to be anywhere near the playoffs this far into the season. Throw in the huge progress that MacKinnon and Rantanen have made in their development, and the only thing that could make this season better is making the playoffs.

Even if they are blown out by Nashville, the experience gained by this team will prove to be invaluable. Getting a series (or 2) under their belts will help them approach next season with higher expectations as a team.

When considering the improved prospect pool, and cap space, it’s hard not to think that this team will be a powerhouse sooner than later. I’ve spent the better part of a decade hoping for them to lose and draft high. Hoping for, and expecting a good Avs team to show up every night is a great feeling, and was long overdue.

So, when does the $20MM in funding hit BSN like The Athletic??
p.s.–thanks for the little shout out on the last podcast to us original BSN subscribers at full price. I think I hit you up the 1st or 2nd day.
