OMG….Varly is NOT good. Grubs is NOT good. I’m sorry…That first goal was a two on one…but that pass was telegraphed a mile away and Varly NEEDS to be quicker there. PLEASE bring up Francouz.

This team won’t make it back into the playoff conversation. With their loss tonight they are out and I don’t see them making it back. This is not a good team, not a good coached team and two very mediocre goalies. The upside is two shots at Jack Hughes. Maybe they luck out, HAHA, and get 1 and 2 to get Jack and Kappo.

My chin IS up. Not only did the Avs lose, but every team around and below them won (except LA). Our draft positions improved dramatically tonight. This is not a team that has any business competing for a cup this year. And i’m sorry, but I do not agree with the crowd that says it’s important for this team to make the playoffs and get stomped in the first round because “experience.”

The fastest route to success for this franchise is to sell at the deadline, get TWO top 10 picks, and bring in Makar, Timmins, Francouz and Greer next year. With all that fresh young blood and perhaps a Jack Hughes on the second line, this team has serious potential.

Avsfan24 hit the nail on the head. This team needs to stay the course through the rebuilding process. Keep developing the youth movement in Loveland. Maybe trade off some pieces current players for draft picks. Focus on the upcoming draft hopefully the Sens pick ends up a top 3 pick.

If the Avs continue on this trajectory, what will realistically happen to this team, to Bednar and Sakic?

Sakic has the Duchene trade to fall back on but Bednar will surely be getting a lot of heat for not developing this team further, for turning Jost from a “not-to-be-traded” player into potentially little more than trade-bait. And if you think about it, have the really taken any steps forward as a team. The top line has at times been phenomenal. But the rest of this “eternally-young-and-up-coming” team has collectively taken a step back.

When’s the last time an Avs player came up from the minors and ever really wowed you? Development starts lower than Bednar

Well the answer is fairly obvious: #96 and that he emerged 1 or 2 years ago depending on how you look at it. Maybe that’s a bigger part of the problem. But let’s a look at our prospects and see what they have done recently:
Kamenev, Timmins – long term injuries;
Compher, Kerfoot – inconsistent and probably too low a ceiling for a second line;
Zadorov, Girard – solid potential, but also underperforming (especially #49),
Andrighetto – no discussion,
Jost – needless to say, his lack of progress&production probably makes the biggest difference on the scoresheet.

I like Bednar, but how does the saying go? – if you are not moving forward, you are moving backward…

Trade Cole. He is supposed to be a veteran. I know we have no one to replace him but man when he makes a mistake it’s almost always is a crucial mistake. He takes a lot of penalties too.

Seriously WhereTF is Francouz? And a Varly trade would be nice. Package him up with someone like Ghetto and some third round picks , they’re worthless to the Avs but have value to teams that actually know how to choose 3rd rounders.

Add to that the fact that Zadorov gets mentioned in trade rumors and Barrie and Girard don’t, and I’m seriously starting to worry about the sanity of the front office. Did the Captain already abandon this sinking ship?

This is ZERO progress since 16-17 folks.
