The one thing I would like to know is this just growing pains or has the development of the team ground to a halt? IMO, the latter is where Bednar is most vulnerable. While you can’t expect every #10 pick to turn into an all star, it is disheartening to see the inconsistent performances of our young guns.

Those ‘young guns’ all have multiple years of pro experience at this point. Youth isn’t an excuse. Stupidity and laziness are the culprits.

Great honest article as to be expected these days by the BSN team. Which brings me to the whole subject of accountability. If anyone who works for any company would drop the ball and the quality of the product their producing would deteriorate and harm the business they would be fired. We the consumers of the product, professional sports, are powerless and have to just accept that our financial investment through supporting and therefore to an extent, funding the product, can produce an unsatisfactory product. And there is very little accountability in the grand scheme of things. You can fire the coaches etc. But i think the players who are paid exceptionally well should in their field of work at least try to meet the standard of their respective monetary value every night. Excuses don’t work for the average Joe in their workplace.

We aren’t entirely powerless. As fans, we can voice our disapproval by withholding our dollars. I’m not spending another cent on tickets or merch for this team until shit gets straight. If enough folks do that, management will look to make changes, if for no other reason than their own bottom line.

agree…I have already skipped 2 games I was planning to attend because it is too expensive to watch the utter collapse…Jack Hughes isn’t going to be enough even if they get him…

I went for it and finally got season tickets this year thinking we finally had the pieces to start moving toward some deep playoffs runs in the next 2-4 years, at least making the playoffs until that point. I will not be renewing. The organization as a whole is incompetent. Sure Joe made a killing with the Duchene trade, but what does it matter when we can’t develop guys?

This sounds like a great way to lose a team to another city to me.

Not gonna happen. Not in this market.

I didn’t renew my season tickets after the awful, AWFUL season. Tickets reps kept calling and asking if I would renew and I said I absolutely would….After Joe gets replaced. They said they didn’t have that kind of power, obviously. I told them that I know it isn’t their fault, but the narrative has to start somewhere and to please pass it up the chain of command.

When a team collapses for no apparent reason, it’s always the coaching. Players not listening, not trying, not caring. I have no clue as to what caused the breakup, but it happened.

Stick a fork in them…the only chance they have is a major shakeup, i.e. Bednar getting canned and a strong personality replacement coming in (ideally someone like Tortorella)…its turning into a 16-17 season which is unacceptable

…the McKinnon-Bednar bench feud way back was perhaps an early indicator that McKinnon doesn’t think his coach knows what he is doing…

By young guns, I am referring to Girard, Zadorov, Jost, Kerfoot and Compher, whose development seems to have stalled, which in my view is a big reason for the team’s current shortcomings. Rantanen, MacKinnon, Landeskog and Barrie all known quantities and frankly aren’t the issue here.
