Nice work.

Seems like a lot of writers seem to lack an understanding that the Avs really had to start from scratch a few years ago. The depth of this team was terrible. Some good individuals, but as a team… not deep at all. Sakic and Roy have a lot of work left to do on that score.

but the good news…. many of last years Defensive standards are now playing 3rd line in the minors. That’s a big improvement on talent depth.

The culture is changing. Finally.

As far as your portion of this article in which you refer to the Rockies, who I loved as a kid, it’d help if you knew what you were talking about.

Barry Beck was drafted by Colorado, played three seasons and was kicking ass so good he was traded to the Rangers for something like 4 or 5 players. In NY he played something like 8 years and for a chunk of that wore the Captain’s C. He then retired because of back issues and then a few years later staged a bit of a comeback for part of one season in LA. Absolute opposite of what you’d a journeyman player.

You talk about their “more successful players” and give mention to Quennville but not Ramage or Von Boxmeer who played a hell of a lot more and better than him. You fail to mention Wilf Paiement who is their all time leading scorer, potted 41 goals in his best season and yet who in his career of just over ten years managed to play for seven NHL teams, the exact definition of journeyman.

Do your damned research.
