Serious question for you guys to explore at some point here. If the NCAA season is affected for the upcoming season, what should Newhook (and the other college prospects, but mainly him) do? If I’m not mistaken, Halifax owns his rights in the CHL, would that be his only option as a Canadian kid or since he went to college, would he be an option for the AHL? Would something outside the box a bit be more in order like maybe the Swiss league (Auston Matthews anyone?). I really doubt the Avs want to burn a year of that ELC unless he blows the doors off in training camp, but they definitely want him playing somewhere and who knows if the NCAA will go or not at this point. For the other guys, Ranta might be an ELC or go play in Europe for a season. Helleson is the other big question mark here given his style of play and that he’s an American. With proper coaching, he might develop just fine in the ECHL (if they play) for a season, become a dominant player there with no pressure, then move up a level and repeat. Interested in your thoughts on some of these guys and their development paths in this Covid era.

AJ … I don’t know if you have seen international rugby but they mike the refs so you hear everything they say plus the mike picks up plenty from the players (who thus have to watch their language). It’s fantastic as it draws you into the play. Also at a top level international rugby match live at the stadium you can buy a “ref link” which is just a simple radio with one earbud that is just the referee broadcast. It’s really cool. Anyway sounds like what you want for the puck.
