Thanks for the interesting discussions and for sharing your all’s hockey expertise. I’m unconvinced the `22 Avs could beat the `01 Avs in a best of seven series with Forsberg healthy. The `01 team had equally extensive brilliance at the top two forward lines, a higher-end top three defenders, better starting goaltending, and key contributors in lower lines and pairings, probably the best third line among playoff teams. The `22 team arguably had a better overall group of six defensemen (including offensively), better depth in terms of 13-14th forwards/7-8th defense and backup goaltending, and probably the best fourth line among playoff teams. One correction: Jeff Odgers was not on the 2000-01 Avs. His last season with the Avalanche was the prior one. AJ, you might have been thinking of Chris Dingman, who did have several key assists during that championship run.
