Opening night best case?

Panarin – MacKinnon – Kerfoot
Landeskog – Jost – Rantanen
Calvert – Soderberg – Compher
Nieto – Kamenev – Kaut
Greer

Girard – Makar
Zadorov – Barrie
Cole – Johnson
Graves

Grubauer
Francouz

Obviously there are almost endless ways to combine the Top 6 – I have a gut feeling that 29 needs 92 with him but don’t think that’s how the Avs would start things out. There’s no room to even consider bringing Bouque, Wilson or Andrighetto back in this scenario. Barberio at a mil and a half goes to Loveland. Hopefully Bowers is ready to replace Soderberg in ’20 – ‘ 21. Timmins replaces Barrie? Again, talking best case. You guys talked about some of the bottom 6 future replacements. Who knows how 2019 #4 and #16 fit in and what do we eventually get for Barrie.

The future sure in heck appears to be extremely bright and will be fascinating to watch play out. Joe Sakic has the chance to be recognized as the best GM of his generation if he makes the right moves. He’s done a pretty masterful job since ’16 – ’17. Just getting Kerfoot, Nemeth and Nieto for free and the Duchene trade and Makar draft should earn him a bunch of respect.

Those two silver banners need some friends.

If I could 100% guarantee this lineup, I’d lock it in. This is my jam right here.

It would be pretty damned stout, wouldn’t it? A whole bunch of talent and a fair amount of grit all over the ice on every shift. Wouldn’t it be nice to roll into San Jose or Anaheim and have them be the ones who are afraid of us again?

If you think about it, all of it only depends on two things happening. They’re pretty significant things but there are only two of them – Sakic has to sign Panarin and Jost has to play like a legit 2C.

What I love is that it’s all talent you can keep. And you’d answer long-term questions about Kerfoot and Jost with that lineup. If they don’t take steps forward, you know you have to adjust in the future. If they do, you just keep rolling along.

After listening to this one has to conclude that if Sakic is successful in signing a free agent like Panarin or Skinner that someone else like Greer or ?? is out. I think this something we know but it is not really talked about.

Do you see the Avs looking at Podkolzin at 4? Or is it more likely they go with Dach, Cozens, Krebs, Turcotte or even Byram?

I don’t see Podkolzin really being the guy there. Turcotte/Byram are the cats I’d focus on
