Hey guys. As I started to lose interest in tonight’s complete turd-laying, I turned on the Preds-Sens game… and caught myself cheering for the Preds to beat the Sens. Have I completely lost it? Or does the Sens’ failure this year possibly mean more than a 2018-19 division title if the goal is a Stanley Cup?

I appreciate you guys talking about the highs and lows. 8-0-2 or whatever is was is not sustainable. Market corrections are bound to happen. I personally think they’re still just a little burnt out from their last 12 games. I’d be fine with a .500 stretch over the next eight to ten games here while they figure stuff out.

If there are no moral victories, there’s no moral defeats either, right? So this is just 2 losses in a row, NBD. But there ARE moral victories, like when Girard skated backwards with McDavid and then took the puck from him 🙂

RE: tweets of “blow it up.” The biggest problem with a lot of Avs fans is that they didn’t follow the Nordiques from, say, 92-93 to 94-95 when they were becoming great. And, remember, 92-93 was Sakic’s 5th season. Teams simply show up in town with an HOF core, trade for the greatest goalie of all time and win cups. They didn’t live through the build. That’s not to say we haven’t all lived through some tough times for quite a while but, still, we haven’t seen the in-between close up.

I actually have a lot of sympathy for Bednar and Joe. The Avs are a very odd combination of germinating talent and dazzling superstars hitting the center of their prime. We think the top line is really, really good but consider Rantanen. Everyone jokes about extrapolating early results but the season is more than a third over and he’s on a pace that would make him the first player with 130 points since Lemieux and the first with 100 assists since freaking Gretzky. That’s mind blowing. On the other hand we’re waiting to see what Jost, Compher, Kerfoot, Girard, Zadorov, Grubauer, Kaut, Makar, Timmins, Bowers, Lewis, Shvyrev, Henry et al become.

The result is a team that’s not yet great but can look great many, many nights. It’s freaking Avs fans out and I’m sure it’s tough for management as well. We all know what LaCroix would do. And that’s one of the other problems Avs fans have. We all saw what LaCroix did. His actions put a couple very prized banners up in the east end of the Can but it also left the team in disarray for about 10 years. We and Joe need just a little more patience. I’m betting Joe has it because he’s lived through the build.
