Great pod. Great comments on the leftover FA’s, on Gusev, on Bednar on the Avs recognizing what they were lacking and trying to address it. Agree right down the line. I think there’s a pretty good chance we might be saying next Spring that they got deeper and tougher but they didn’t abandon their mantra of younger/faster.

If they’re not going to get Gusev I also hope they just call it for the summer as far as tinkering with the forwards. I hope they can get Gusev. The upside is crazy. Go get him. I know you guys know this but it wouldn’t be Gusev blocking Kaut or Bowers or Kamenev, it would be Bellemare and Nieto and Calvert. And I really have grown to appreciate Calvert and Nieto and probably will Bellemare also but that’s just the situation. Developing the younger guys shouldn’t be a reason not to try to find a way to fit Gusev in.

The Blues are full of not small hardass D men. Boston DOES have Chara. I see Z very much like Chara. And not just because they both had 14 points last season. Chara didn’t take off offensively until his 6th season in the NHL. And I’ll bet he was getting more PP time than Z is ever going to get. Are we sure you can win a Cup, that’s 16 games in the playoffs, without some real grit in your lineup, including and especially on your blue line?

Nathan, I do recommend getting the DNA test for the dog because it will help inform you on both behavior and, more importantly, potential health issues. It definitely helped me with Howler (who is a Great Pyrenees/Kelpie mix, AJ!), understanding why he barks and how to train him. 🙂
