Regarding Stastny, I think it came down to his personal situation. He got married and likely had some input from his new wife as far as to stay in CO or not. And he grew up in STL and I believe that had a big part of the decision as well. The other thing you guys didn’t mention, he saw writing on the wall of Duchene, MacKinnon taking his opportunity from being #1/2 center.
“…only played a period or so…” A.J., to call b.s. was out of line IMO. I’d appreciate some respect for an Avs writer I’ve looked up to for a long time. That’s not to say you have to hold back, but at least try to make sure you’re calling people on things when it’s warranted and only then. That’s more or less what this team did. Seriously. He said only a period OR SO. To call b.s. on such a trifle was crossing the line – and then to quote him incompletely didn’t help. I certainly got his point and agreed. Just a rare comment from an avid listener.
The rest of this one was great, guys. Great discussion, great points. I found] the part about the Stastny situation especially interesting.
