When I listen this ….it s Krebs all the way ….no to Cozens at 4 but yes at 16 if falls , Dach so so for me ,but Krebs fits the bill for sure , seems similar to Turcotte from what I listen ???

I’m Turcotte or Byram at 4. More Byram. There are more forwards than D every draft.

I don’t think we’ll go after a D in FA so Im good with Byram.

I don’t know how signing a stud 2nd line FA center for 7 years plays into drafting a 2nd line center though.Turcotte might start at 3rd line in 2 years but…would he wait 5 years to be 2nd line center. That doesn’t seem like a good plan.

We can’t protect 4 D for Seattle so I’d rather go Byram. Whatever happens, Byram-Turcotte-Dach-Krebs will be fun to watch in our mix.

I’m a no on EK. I know EK at 65% is still a #1 D. I worry with wear and tear + $$. Especially in 5 or 6 or 7 years from now. I don’t think a 40 game guy at $11m is a good plan either. Besides…he was on the ice for a lot of goals too and we pummel Barrie for the same thing.

Really nice job guys, I suspect it’ll be Byram or Turcotte but really interesting to hear the the comparisons among these three.

In this draft – I say the Avs should go with Byram if he is still available at 4 and C at 16. An organization can never have enough top level D prospects.

From pick 3 on, there isn’t a clear front runner, and 4 could be any number of players. Pronman has Caufield with the single highest rating of any skill(higher than any of Hughes, who’s skating was rated at 70, with no other skill rated above 65 by any other player)..80 on his shot, and fifth overall. Ignoring the size issue, Caufield is the one player after the top two who has an extra special skill that is elite level, something no other player has. I’d take him or Byram at 4.

I understand taking the best available high end player at no. 4, but since there isn’t a clear cut favorite, I think we choose to give us the best future roster possible, and in my mind, it’s the elite quality goal scorer, to fill a current and future weakness…a very specific choice fitting a major Avs’ need…or the d man to give us the most talented blue line, the Avs have ever had. I expect Chicago to Byram, but if he falls, I’d take him, and look for more offensive help, later in round one. If he doesn’t, I take Caufield.

Loved the idea of a trade of Barrie for a top ten pick, should we be fortunate enough to get Byram. Sakic should be working the phones.
I agree that a great draft would be Byram, Krebs or Newhook in a Barrie trade, and, say, Lavoie at 16, or Newhook drops to 16? Dream on.
