Do the Avs have a pest player? And if not, do they need one?

JTC and Landy. Greer would also be a great pest if Bednar would play him.

How did our prospects fare at the WJC? And how did the tournament affect the draft stock of the 2019 eligibles?

There are lots of folks getting fired up about some of Bednar’s personnel decisions such as continuing to play Bourque over someone like Greer. And I’d imagine we’ll hear complaints of Francouz being sent back to the Eagles too, particularly if Varly and Gruby continue to be a bit up/down. And while I think it’s fair to question usage of guys who are on the Avs’ roster, I’m wondering how much say Bednar has over who is called up and ultimately sent back down.

So pod question — is it Bednar who gets the final say on which player is called up…is it Joe who gets to make the choice…or is a collective decision?

I’m curious how this stuff works because I can see a scenario where the coaching staff wants to call up a certain player to fill in but management might think it’s better for that player to stay with the Eagles and get more playing time.

Aj your Tyson Barrie rant was…….. spot on! Love the raw honesty, some Avs “fans” need the bitter truth sometimes

Haha, thanks for trying to read that AD. It wasn’t written really as a question, but more of a comment. AJ you meany for cutting him off!

I was actually more curious about what you guys think of their mindset from my last question. It is a little weird that they seem to win more games when they lose in face off column. I was thinking it might be because they’re a better counter attack team than a possession team. They seem much better off the rush, than creating offense off of a cycle.

How involved day to day are the Kronkes? Are they ever at games, and how does their involvement compare to that of the Nuggets and other NHL teams?

1) I’d like to broadcast AJ’s Tyson Barrie rant throughout the Pepsi Center, mostly so the jackass who sits behind me in 318 can hear it. Bra-freaking-vo.

2) Before giving credence to a single word emanating from Pierre McGuire’s mouth people should take 10 minutes to read Jeff Jacobs’ superb dissection of the six months that megalomaniac moron spent as HC of the Whalers. I lived just south of Hartford at the time and to call it a clusterfuck would be an understatement. Here are a few extracts:

“In 15 years of covering the NHL, we had never seen a coach so universally disrespected and disliked within his own organization.”

“In a blistering post-mortem, captain Pat Verbeek called McGuire’s firing the best thing that could have happened to the Whalers. He said other teams mocked their coach. He said his own teammates had no respect for McGuire.”

“But in the past six weeks, we spoke to no fewer than 20 people –from all areas of the organization. The support for McGuire was almost nonexistent. It turns out that it wasn’t only the players. It was almost everybody.”

“Many times he privately said after a game how he outcoached the other guy. But it was something never really made public until May 3, when McGuire proclaimed that no coach in the NHL “can outwit me.” That quote ran in The Hockey News and raised eyebrows all over the NHL.”
