Something tells me he will be needed before this playoff run is over

I love Varly – he’s a warrior and should have had his name on the Vezina 13-14! Bad luck that he carried the team to Playoffs last season and got hurt at the end of the Regular season. I feel for the guy but Grub got hot at the right time, helped get them in the playoffs this season and deserves to start now

I hope he absolutely rips it up next year, whether that be in Denver or elsewhere.

Great piece Adrian (duh)! Its hard to watch people who have been great players for a team and then when things start improving they miss out. I would love Varly to stick around and I bet he has at least one more hot streak that will carry a team for a good period. Might even be here against the Flames. Hope Varly knows the fans still love him…and wish he the best no matter where he is playing next year.

Varly probably a Flame next season. Which is fine. Too inconsistent while he was here. Would like to see Frank graduate to backup, especially if we throw a ton of cash towards Panarin or Ferland

I’ll never forget Varly’s play during the 13-14 season. The dude was lights-out every night. It was amazing to watch.
But, as you and others have pointed out this year, he’s not the same goalie these days.
Physically, he’s not as quick as he once was. He has also had a lot of issues being mentally sharp this year.
I think that could be because Varly may have started looking over his shoulder when Gruby was brought in.

He clearly wants the net. And I hope he gets that opportunity again and his play rises back to near where it was a few years back.
But I just can’t see how keeping him here would be good for anyone involved.

Funny – I seem to remember someone named Jonathan Bernier going on a 10 game winning streak while Varly was down and basically getting the Avs into the playoffs – nothing against Varly, he’s been truly amazing at times and I wish him nothing but the best, but let’s give credit where credits due Bernier was the reason they got into the playoffs last year.

He may still be the goalie who wins the series, playoffs are rough.
