Well totally disappointing that the Avs blew the series and kinda beat themselves. Too many mistakes will kill any teams playoff hopes. Good coverage AJ on the playoffs and Season. I appreciate your analysis and insight. I agree that for as good as Girard is in the regular season, his size got exposed in the playoff. It seemed that he was not willing to take the hits to get the puck out of the zone and it got turned over. Puck in the back of the net. AJ, The question is and this might sound crazy, do the Avs chance Girard size in the playoffs again or do they trade him for another Dman or top six forward. Is Girard’s size a playoff liability that will always be there to expose. Sakic could get a haul for him. The Avs have a lot of BIG decisions to make in order to make this team better. Grubauer’s next contract, Burky is he to soft in the playoffs, Saad can/will they resign him, Kadri is he a terminal playoff liability, Graves? EJ his healthand his NMC? I am sure there are more questions. Oh well, it is just sports and entertainment and life goes on…..

In your summer review, I’d love to see some analysis of regular season versus playoffs for the roster. I want to avoid angry hot takes, but I’m curious whether my eye-test of who disappeared is true, or just reflects my bias. (I’d be curious to see it for Vegas too: were they steady-state, or did they ramp it up for the series –I have no idea)

When was the last time Johnson played in the last game of the year?

There were a lot of mistakes that were caused by the Vegas intensely physical play. we choose to sit back and rely on our passing game which was destroyed by the Vegas checking. that’s how you play in the playoffs. When Graves made that hard check in tthe first game every member of the Vegas team came after him repeatedly and it affected his play in the last few games. Girard’s play is not going to win any Stanly cups. I got the feeling as the series went along that they were a much bigger team than us, but then I looked at the rosters and that’s not true. I like Bednar a lot but he was really outcoached in this one.

Too sour to get into specifics, you covered it well. I want to thank you for the great coverage, your personality, your perspective. There is not another journalist in Denver that knows this team better than you. Not blowing smoke, man. It’s true. Keep it up!

If I only have time to read one post-game article throughout the season, AJ, I always chose yours. Your narratives are always a great read and add to my enjoyment of being a fan of this team. It certainly did feel like every Avs mistake ended up as a Vegas goal and the Avs needed a dozen HDSC just to get one tally. I am really unsure what to do about Kadri, other than just hope he doesn’t do ‘it’ again.

You were certainly right on the pod when you said that the lens for this team going forward is what they do in the playoffs and little else matters until then.

Was pretty frustrated how this playoffs ended. But the season was very entertaining to witness, anyhow, thanks for all the great coverage and the podcasts, was hoping to go to a later round playoff game this summer hopefully next spring. Keep up all the great work!
