So what is it with Colorado and coming back 2 goal deficits. If my memory serves me well, the Avs must have played in something like a dozen games this season where they battled back from 2 goals down, including a bunch of games that they ended up losing in the middle of season. But still they seem so unfazed right now. I am very impressed!

Just. Keep. Working.

That’s their attitude. It’s paying off.

I was going to mention this.
I don’t think it’s applicable to much other than the 8-0-2 streak at the moment, but it continues to be an incredible story.
Analytics notwithstanding, Calgary blew this game. Score first on Friday and see what happens.
This is awesome. I was at Game 6 in 08 against Minnie and it was madness. I don’t live in town these days but I am so happy to see these crowds. Long time coming.
Hopefully our next shot to show it is Game 1. Finish it boys.

It´s nice to see how each playoff run of the Avs adds it´s special notes and lines to their history book.

This is absolute fantasy this early but how do you suppose Gary Bettman would feel about a Columbus/Colorado final?

Probably better than he would have felt about a Clagary/Tampa final…

I just love how all negative narratives are just getting blown up.
Bednar sucks…. Nope.
Trade Barrie…. Excellent season, breaks team records, instrumental in the stretch to get in the playoffs, no huge defensive mistakes in playoffs
This team reminds of 48 point team…. We are up 3-1 against a goalie with a 94 save percentage.
Cole is Stuart all over again…. Been great in the playoffs (puck over glass is stupid rule I’m not holding it against him. He was about to get crushed)
If we do make it it will be pointless because we’ll lose first round…. You were saying?
Jost is a bust…. Oh, okay. Maybe not ALL the narratives have been debunked.

I had just graduated High School in ’01. It’s so awesome that 18 years later we are building a roster that the next generation will get to see compete for cups. We have 3 bonafide superstars (mac, rants, makar) and at least 3 stars (landy, girard, gruuuuubs). We have Kaut, Bowers, Frankie, and maybe a Timmins in the A with 2 more first round picks coming.

Holy hell I haven’t been this excited to be an Avs fan since Seleane/Kariya and this time isn’t a huge cluster fuck.

What a playoffs. What a series. Fuck, I love hockey!

Jost has the highest Corsi of any Avs player right now. In 2nd? Cale Makar.

In 3rd? Gabriel Bourque.

Thanks for pointing out the heretical miscalculations so many have made! Heresy!

Being an Avs fan, I can’t help but remember the blown 3-1 series leads of the past. But the Avs at this moment seem closer to the 2001 version than the ones that lost those series.

My wife probably drowns out the guy in section 352 from 200 miles away.

To be fair, the only 3-1 series the Avs have “blown” during their glory years were Edmonton in ’98 and Minnesota in ’03. They let some teams come back on them from 3-1 to force game 7’s. Even the ’01 cup team did that in the LA series if we’re making parallels with that team. Calgary is flat out on their heels right now and Smith is the only one keeping them competitive so it’s an uphill battle for sure.

I don’t know who you have in mind on this one… but I’ve got a taek. My opinion on this going into the hot streak that got us into the post season went something along the lines of… The team already knows how to lose the first round. I would have preferred they not gotten hot and gone all in on 2 high first rounders this year. I caveat that opinion by saying that if they could squeak into the 2nd round, all that goes out the window. The guys need to learn how to win in the post season, just getting there doesn’t work anymore. Not to count chickens before they’ve hatched, but it looks like they’re doing exactly that.

I get wanting high draft picks but we’ve witnessed the effect of losing. I’m of the opinion that building that confidence that no matter what they can win is much more valuable than turning #16 to #8.
A losing culture just makes it more likely that those picks bolt the first chance they get (see Dutchy/RoR). Additionally, winning attracts FAs and this summer is when the Avs really need to be able to attract FAs.
The losing has gone on long enough. It served it’s purpose and brought in mack, landy, makar, dutchy return, ror return, kaut. There is a fine line between rebuilding and building a culture of losing. It’s definitely time to buck the culture and teach these guys how to be champions.

Cole was a beast….everyone has upped their game as they should for the playoffs. Still, w/o Grubs we aren’t going to advance. No better time than now to trade Barrie…

Doesn’t the decision to play Makar, force the Avs to trade Barry? I disagree on Colin Wilson, I think he’s the one that should be benched when girard comes back.

Andrighetto has been FAR worse than Wilson and provides zero utility. There’s no way Wilson should be on the chopping block.

Wilson too slow. Only going to get slower. Keep him. I hope not!
