Interesting there has been a D involved in 10 of the 12 goals scored against StL+NJ. The only 2 where no D man was involved were the unassisted goals by MacK and Bellie. Just shows the plan is working, having D initiate better break outs and push up the ice to join the rush. Obviously G on a tear with 6 assists across the 2 games is a big factor.

Great game by the Avs tonight. Also showed one of the advantages to breaking up the big line on a regular basis. This gives other teams something to worry about. Most nights having them on separate lines will spread the offensive threat around a lot over the four lines and make them a more balanced threat allowing them to take advantage of line match ups at random as it’s hard for the other team to match against 3 stars plus Kadri and Makar all skating on different units. The really big advantage of this is that when things appear just the least bit stagnant during a game you can throw the big line out there together for a few shifts and know they aren’t going to miss a beat when put back together. This also allows everyone on the team to build a comfort level playing with each other and that in and of itself is an added layer of depth to an already deep lineup.
