When I went to chat with new Colorado Avalanche forward Zachary L’Heureux for the first time, I couldn’t help but think about the old practice of a person’s occupation becoming their surname and what L’Heureux’s family must have been like to land on that particular name.
That’s because his name in French translates to “The happy man.” After spending a few minutes with him, it was clear that L’Heureux was living up to his name because he’s downright jovial, and why wouldn’t he be?
He’s a 23-year-old making great real-world money playing a game for a living and chasing his dreams in the best hockey league in the world. He also has the added benefit of having been traded in the offseason from the struggling team that drafted him, the Nashville Predators, to one of the league’s best teams in the Avs.
Getting traded can be a confusing experience, but especially so when you miss the initial phone call telling you what’s going on.

Good stuff. It seems like an easier task to get someone like that who plays with too much fire to dial back a little than the other way around.
