Podcast question, why do they call it a home-and-home series? From no one’s perspective is it home-and-home, it’s either home-and-away or away-and-home!

probably because each team has a home game in there. just a weird semantic thing that hockey has adopted.

“Coming into today’s afternoon affair, Colorado had struggled with the teams in front of them in the Central Division”
Avs were 3-2 in games against Central teams ahead of them coming into this game

I’m not sure what standings you’re looking at because I dont believe this is correct. They were 1-3 with two losses to Dallas and 1 to STL. Their only win is against Winnipeg. So I believe my statement was accurate.

Technically my bad. But I was counting the record against teams were equal or behind to at time they played

What about that absolute stomping they put on Nashville? Now 3-3 against the division, I believe.

They’re ahead of Nashville. They’ve done very well against teams behind them. Not good against teams ahead of them.

I have to admit I wasn’t a fan of the Nichushkin signing when it happened, and he was a bit lackluster in the beginning, but you have to like his process. He seems to always be around the puck when he is on the ice, and he is always grinding. I’d like to see him use his size maybe a bit more but if this is what he is going to produce now that the 800lb gorilla is off his back he can definitely be a very useful piece thru the rest of the season.

This is turning into a truly special group here. With all the injuries they’ve had, multiple guys have stepped up into roles they don’t normally play and they have excelled. Heck, even MacK has gotten better defensively and in the face offs (I don’t know the stats, just the eye test) which have been his big weaknesses. Makar is running away with the Calder at this point and should absolutely be a finalist for the Norris as well. That goal by Nichuskin was incredible, you said it man confidence is one hell of a drug. The big question is can these guys keep that mo-jo going when they start getting healthy. If guys like Nichuskin, Nieto, Calvert, Graves, et al can still feel confident taking chances and creating offense when they’re back to their intended places in the lineup it will be a really fun team to watch during the stretch run and into the playoffs.
