Always thought Cowan wasn’t given a fair shake in Toronto. Unfortunately though, it’s a business. They had their agenda and his sacrificed career was kind of a piece to the Leafs puzzle.

You guys really should get your facts straight, Cowan was injured in Ottawa, not Toronto. Cowan started wining very publicly, the first day he got to Toronto. The writer from BS Denver states that Cowan lost about 3 mill in salary, the correct no. is about 1.4 mill. Toronto tried to send Cowan to the AHL, to sort things out. Cowan refused to go, so Shanahan sent him home. From day one Cowan seemed to be an ass. Toronto could have just put Cowan on the LTIR and it would have cost them virtually nothing. Cowan would have had time to recover and access to medical. Instead he got bought out and it cost him money. Considering Shanahan has tried to run the team as a first class organization since he got there, how did Cowan end up where he is. Cowan`s beef was with Ottawa and he has to take at least half the blame for what happened in Toronto, if not all and remember Cowan got cleared to play by more than 1 doctor

The pre-tweet and then the Rips tweet? For these comments? Dude must be really dragging ass in the clicks game to be this desperate.
This is ripping the Leafs a new one? A bit bitter but not exactly over the top angry aggressiveness in these comments.
I felt bad for Cowen at the time but the CBA is used by both players and teams to their own advantage. But bottom line, if he didn’t suck, he would have stayed in Ottawa and the Leafs wouldn’t have taken his contract in the Phaneuf trade as a salary dump just to buy him out at the end of the season. A harsh reality.
I wish him good luck for the Avs. He needs a break and they need D.

He’s talking about how he’s pissed at the way teams treat their players… meanwhile not too far away in the locker room is another player currently pissed at how his team is treating him… nice feelings about “the management” wafting around in the locker room… must be impressing the younger guys…

Oh boy does Mr. Cowan need a reality check. Ottawa forced him and his contract on the Maple Leafs in the Dion Phaneuf deal. He was overpaid and no longer needed. So he got to Toronto and couldn’t earn a roster spot. What’s the problem here? Oh yeah, his attitude.
Good riddance.
